CEMS Office Semester Closing Event SS 2016
Another great semester at WU has come to an end and therefore, students, professors and corporate partners came together to participate in the CEMS Office’s official closing event on June 21, 2016. The almost 100 participants launched the evening with an exciting Danube sail on the pedal boat regatta. After a fun and simultaneously intense competition the winning teams received valuable prizes which were provided by the corporate partners.
The second part of the evening consisted of a delicious BBQ and drinks at the Ufertaverne at the Old Danube. All participants highly enjoyed the great location and atmosphere and looked back on another successful semester in Vienna. The CEMS Club Vienna thanked the CEMS Office Team (Steffi, Jana and Jana) and Prof. Fischer for their great involvement and support throughout the two last semesters. The party went on till late in the evening, as everyone was enjoying a great view, a wonderful summer evening and amazing company.
CEMS Global Charity Run SS 2016

On May 29th, 2016 18 WU CEMSies participated in the this year's CEMS Global Charity Run and ran kilometers for a good cause.
The chosen beneficiary of the charity run is called Building Tomorrow. This initiative has identified that around 31 Million children in Sub-Saharan Africa lack the opportunity to attend school on a daily basis. To counter this situation, the organisation is involved in building primary schools in East Africa to give children the opportunity to go to school and enable them to create a better future for themselves.

A.T. Kearney Beer Distribution Game SS 2016

On May 20th, 2016 A.T. Kearney invited 14 CEMS students to the Vienna office and offered its famous Beer Distribution Game. This game updates the classic supply chain game originally developed at the MIT Sloan School of Management in the 1960s and brings it to your iPad. The game provides an interactive and enjoyable way to learn about a classic supply chain problem: The Forrester or bullwhip effect that is typical for the dynamic behavior of multi-tier supply chains.
The CEMSies highly enjoyed the afternoon and appreciated the possibility to talk to A.T. Kearney consultants in an informal get-together after the end of the workshop. We are already looking forward to future events in collaboration with A.T. Kearney.
CCV Football Tournament with UniCredit SS 2016

On Tuesday, May 17, our athletic CEMSies gathered for the first CEMS Football Tournament with UniCredit. At the UniCredit Sports Academy in Vienna, our two teams of first years, second years and exchange students brought back the trophies for 2nd and 3rd place for the CEMS Club Vienna!
The tournament featured exciting and close games, great skills and team effort and of of course a lot of fantastic goals! The evening ended with a nice dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, together with the UniCredit employees. We are looking forward to future football tournaments and hope to establish CEMS sports event on a regular basis every semester!
CCV Entrepreneurship Challenge SS 2016

The long awaited start-up event, which has already been established successfully and takes place every semester in a different form, excited the participants. Students and companies got together to take part in the CCV Entrepreneurship Challenge.
How do you get little, grumpy children to brush their teeth or how in the world can you value a start-up the right way? Those were only a few of the real life questions that were presented to the students and were waiting to be solved at the Entrepreneurship Challenge.
A group of eager CEMSies with entrepreneurial spirit got together on May 6th to solve the problems of our participating start-ups: Kiweno, Kaahée, i5invest, Playbrush and FragNebenan.
After an intense session drinks and snacks waited to cool the smoking heads. The networking gave the opportunity to connect even more with each other. The event was highly appreciated by all parties and gave all the opportunity to build stronger ties for future events.
CCV Students Night with Aptar Inc. SS 2016
Aptar Inc., a MNC which supplies customers such as L’Oréal and Novartis with dosage and pump systems, executed the 2nd Students Night with us on 20th April 2016. Our CEMS students met together with top level managers to spend one evening together.
Coming from all over the world, the executive managers travelled to Vienna for an internal workshop and wanted to experience one of the highlights during their stay: A typical student evening with us.
The event started with an aperitif and a get-together in a relaxed atmosphere at WU campus. Afterwards, the students and managers were split up into small groups and enjoyed individual dinner options, like cooking together in shared flats or going to a Heurigen. In a relaxed atmosphere, interesting talks and experiences from the long-lasting, individual careers have been shared with the CEMSies. After having challenged the managers enough with wrapping spring rolls or making their own pizza, the whole group met again together in a bar to have drinks.
Ready for the Job Interview with McKinsey SS 2016

The CCV Corporate Affairs team kicked off the semester with a “Ready for the Job Interview with McKinsey” workshop on April 15, 2016. After a short introduction to the company, 14 students followed a simulation of a short case study and elaborated the relevant soft skills for a successful job interview. In addition, students received detailed feedback from an experienced recruiter on their CVs as well as individual hints how to be best prepared for an application day with McKinsey. The workshop concluded with a common dinner and plenty of time to get into conversation with McKinsey consultants. The students appreciated the interesting insights they were able to collect during the workshop and are already looking forward to future events in collaboration with McKinsey.
CEMS Office Rotation Dinner SS 2016
As much a yearly tradition as a highlight in the spring term calendar, our annual rotation dinner once again pleased both students and company representatives with great conversation and networking opportunities as well as culinary treats. On April 14 we welcomed A.T. Kearney, Henkel, Mondi, Österreichische Nationalbank, Procter & Gamble, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Unibail-Rodamco and Unicredit to Glacis Beisl at Museumsquartier. Almost 40 students had the chance to rotate among companies inbetween each of the five delicious courses on the menu and network with company representatives. We are especially proud that several of the company representatives are former CEMS students which shows the strong ties our alumni keep with both our program and corporate partners.
CEMS Global Alumni Week 2016 at WU Vienna – Panel Discussion, Networking Dinner and Alumni Workshops SS 2016
Between 4th and 10th April 2016, the first ever CEMS global Alumni Week (GAW), an initiative of the Alumni Relations Division of the CEMS Student Board, took place in all of the 30 member schools of the CEMS network. The primary aim of the GAW was to strengthen the bonds between current CEMS students and alumni. A global webinar kick started the week of activities involving various CEMS stakeholders.
In Vienna, the first highlight of the GAW was the Alumni Panel Discussion, which was organized by the Alumni Relations Team of the CEMS Club Vienna. The panel speakers, Christian Janak (Interim General Manager at Pona), Clemens Fisch (Hospitality Start-up Growth Manager), Olivier Fay (Sales Executive at VMware Central- and Eastern Europe) and Herwig Springer (CEO Corporate Development at i5invest), all of them CEMS alumni representing different cohorts and, thus, generations, shared their unique experiences from diverse sectors on how to motivate employees and held them accountable from their very own management perspective. It was an insightful evening, which was concluded by a networking dinner, fostering the ties between current CEMS students and alumni in an informal setting.
The second highlight of the CEMS GAW at WU Vienna was a series of workshops focused on the topics of effective leadership and the role of the brains as the driving force in management, which gave alumni and students the opportunity to enhance their personal and professional skills. The skill seminars, led by experienced executive coaches, not only allowed alumni to enjoy a day back at university, but also to reunite, get to know current CEMS students and, thus, strengthen the CEMS spirit overall.
CEMS Office Opening Event SS 2016
Vienna from high above – more than 70 exchange and home school students followed the call of the CEMS office and kicked off the upcoming spring semester on 4th April, 2016. The great 360° view from the Donauturm Café at 160m above ground of our beautiful city sure is a highlight. While enjoying delicious treats, the famous Austrian Sachertorte as well as Viennese coffee, the program management and our academic director Jan Hendrik Fisch officially welcomed our fellow exchange and home school students from around the world.
CEMS Waltzing Days 2016

The CEMS Waltzing Days is a traditional CEMS event that is organised each year by CEMS students together with the CEMS Alumni Association. It is a three-days event that has as highlight the famous WU ball which takes place at the glamorous Emperor’s Palace ‘Hofburg’. Starting on Friday, 8th January this year’s CEMS Waltzing Days were kicked off with an incredible dinner at the typical Austrian dinner place ‘Zwölf Apostelkeller’. All participants of the weekend-program got together in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoyed some typical Austrian dishes before heading to the In-bar ‘Motto am Fluss’, located on a ship at the Danube, to end the night with some delicious cocktails and amusing talks. On Saturday morning, the mix of international CEMS students and Alumni, who came to Vienna for this event from all around the world, were introduced into the Viennese Waltzing tradition. By taking a dancing class at the prestigious dancing school Svabek, that is well known for performing the opening choreography of the famous Opera ball, the attendants enjoyed getting some first practice tips of the basic ‘Waltz’ dance. Well prepared for the night and dressed up in our most elegant attire we met again before the ball to enjoy our private Cocktail in a bar close to the main event location. After the aperitif we headed together to the Emperor’s palace to enjoy the highlight of the whole CEMS Waltzing days, the famous WU ball. Beautiful dresses, great life music and many dance moves made this night unforgettable. The best memories were exchanged the next day during a brunch in the traditional Café Landtmann, ‘the most beautiful café of Vienna’.
CEMS Office Semester Closing Event WS 2015/2016
On December 16th, 2015 WU CEMS got together to say goodbye to another amazing semester in Vienna. The venue was the All In Club and indeed, all CEMSies were in: there were more than 100 guests! The CEMS Office Team wished good luck to the incomings who were in Vienna for the semester and to the students going for their exchange in the spring. Students had also the opportunity to network with Faculty Members, Alumni and CP Representatives. Everyone enjoyed the music, cocktails, food and above all the nice company which all CEMS events are sure to offer.
CV Check by Unibail-Rodamco WS 2015/2016

On December 14, 2015 Unibail-Rodamco conducted a CV check for 18 CEMSies. After an introductory presentation about applications in general and application processes in particular, the HR responsible gave individual feedback on the CVs of the participants. Especially the insights in applications from the view of a recruiter were appreciated by the students and helpful tips for the CVs were obtained.
'Strategy to win' workshop with Horváth & Partners WS 2015/2016

On December 4th Horváth & Partners invited 20 CEMS students to the workshop ,,Strategy to win’’ – a workshop about how to develop and implement strategies successfully. After a company presentation, students worked on an interesting and challenging case together and had the opportunity to present it in front of Horváth & Partners consultants. The workshop ended with a Sushi buffet where students had the chance to ask about consulting and especially how work life at Horváth & Partners is. After this great experience, we are definitely looking forward to many more events in cooperation with Horváth & Partners.
Entrepreneurship in Vienna - Backstage in High Risk Capital WS 2015/2016

On the 2th December 2015, 57 CEMSies participated in this term's startup challenge which brought the startup, venture capital and incubator world closer to CEMS students who hardly get in touch with the scene during their studies.
Speedinvest (VC), Pioneers (Austria’s Flagship startup Platform, Festival, VC), Whatchado (Career Platform), Foodora (Rocket Internet, Food Delivery), aws Gründerfonds (VC), i5invest (incubator) and CheckYeti (Booking Platform) offered different activities to the students. Both companies and students fully enjoyed the interesting afternoon and are looking forward to an extension in the next term.
Career Workshop with FiNUM WS 2015/2016
On November 27th 2015, 9 CEMSies from WU had the unique opportunity to meet two FiNUM representatives at their Vienna office to get exclusive insights on how to succeed in interviews. After a short company presentation, information on how to negotiate salary was provided and students were invited to practice their self-presentation skills. In addition, difficult interview questions as well as strengths and weaknesses were addressed. The FiNUM representatives also explained how to improve CVs and provided the CEMSies with individual feedback on their self-presentation skills.
The students highly enjoyed the valuable insights on interviews that they gained and are looking forward to future events with FiNUM.

Case Study Workshop with zeb WS 2015/2016

On November 13th 2015 a group of 20 CEMSies was invited by zeb to participate in a case study workshop dealing with a growth strategy for a Swiss bank. After a short introduction on zeb and its main business activities the students started to work on an interesting case study that was very different to the ones they usually face at university. This helped them to gain new knowledge in the banking sector and to develop a new approach to case studies. Finally, the elaborated results were presented to four zeb consultants and valuable feedback was received. Afterwards, a nice get-together enabled the students to receive more information on zeb and its career opportunities.
We would like to thank zeb for this great day and are looking forward to future cooperations.
Get-together with Strategy& WS 2015/2016
On October 29th 2015 CEMS Vienna students had the unique opportunity to get a first-hand impression of the consulting life of Strategy& during a “Get together" at their Vienna office. After a short company presentation, snacks and drinks were served while our students had the opportunity to talk to several consultants from Junior Associates to Managers in a more informal environment.
The students gathered interesting insights and are looking forward to future events with Strategy&.
Skill Seminar with Mondi WS 2015/2016

On Friday, 23rd October 2015, our Corporate Partner Mondi hosted a Skill Seminar in their impressive Headquarter for Division Europe & International. 15 students were invited to learn about the topic of moderation. In an informal atmosphere, theoretical input was explained and then applied in interactive group work and presentations. The knowledge gained during this Skill Seminar will for sure be put into practice soon by the students during upcoming group work and business meetings.
P&G’s CEMSational Cocktails WS 2015/2016
On Wednesday, 14th October 2015, our Corporate Partner Procter & Gamble invited a group of 45 students to 'P&G’s CEMSational Cocktails' Event at Moody’s. A team of 7 company representatives from different functions and levels joined us for this relaxed evening. The representatives rotated between the tables and the students were given the opportunity to network and gain insights about roles & responsibilities, development opportunities, the company’s culture as well as its products & brands in an informal atmosphere.
Rotation Dinner WS 2015/2016
Traditionally, the Corporate Events in the WS 2015/2016 started with the Rotation Dinner organized by the CEMS Club Vienna. This time Accenture, A.T. Kearney and Microsoft participated in the event which was held at Brandauer’s Bierbögen. During the four-course menu, the students had the opportunity to get to know each company. The companies’ representatives were eager to share their professional input and to give insights about the work opportunities offered. This led to some very interesting conversations and discussions between our students and the corporate partners. We are already looking forward to the next Rotation Dinner and thank the corporate partners for participating in this event!
WU CEMS Block Seminars WS 2015/2016
From 1st to 9th of October the new CEMS year at WU started academically with Block Seminars held on the new WU Campus in Vienna. 81 students from 20 different CEMS universities came together to attend one of the three different seminars. The seminars offered were ‘Multinationality and Value Creation’ by Desislava Dikova, ‘Global Stakeholder Management and Corporate Responsibility’ by Christof Miska and ‘Strategy as Practice – Critical Thinking, Problem Formulation and Biases’ by Phillip Nell. The BS week was kicked off at a traditional Austrian ‘Heurigen’, where Austrian specialties were served in an informal setting, so everybody could get to know each other. The seminars during the following week were filled with lectures, guest lectures, case studies and company visits and presentations. After the seminars ended on Friday, everybody came together for a closing dinner and party to conclude this great start to the new semester.
CEMS Office Opening Event WS 2015/2016
On 23th September, 2015 the CEMS Office invited all WU CEMS students and CEMS Incomings to MUMOK (Museum of Modern Arts) in the heart of Vienna to participate in one of three possible guided tours through several exhibitions. The exhibitions showed a lot of faces of modern art and were well received by the students. Afterwards, the group proceeded to the subsequent Brunch at the Dschungel CafeBar in Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier. There everybody was welcomed to the new academic year and semester by CEMS Academic Director Prof. Jan Hendrik Fisch and the CEMS team, Steffi, Jana and Jana. The whole event was very nice, in a pleasant, informal atmosphere and gave everyone the opportunity to meet his/her fellow students and the CEMS team.
CV Check by BCG SS 2015
The “CV Check by BCG” event took place on Tuesday June 2, 2015. During this event, which was organized by the CEMS Corporate Affairs Team, 21 students took the opportunity to get their CVs checked by a professional recruiter from the Boston Consulting Group. Starting off with a short company presentation, followed by an interactive Q&A session, students then had the chance to get individual feedback on their CVs. The evening ended with a comprehensive buffet where one could discuss and network within an informal atmosphere, concluding a successful evening with BCG.
Nestlé CEMS Visit SS 2015

The Global Swiss Company Nestlé invited a group of fifteen CEMSies to visit their Austrian Offices. The Nestlé team warmly received all the students in the imposing hall of the Euro Plaza Business Center and guided them to the offices for a detailed presentation about the career opportunities at Nestlé, especially joining the “Nestlé needs YOUth program”.After the presentation, the tour visit throughout the offices started. The offices are mainly divided by product areas, which are easily identified, as they have product samples all over the place.
After the entertained tour, the group met the culinary division manager for a very interactive Q&A session.At the end, the students were invited to taste some of the products from the Nestlé open pantry, where the ice-creams and Nescafés were the most claimed. The group finished the visit with a casual talk with several employees concluding a successful afternoon at Nestlé.
Aptar Inc. "Student’s night with executives" SS 2015

Aptar Inc., a champion in the packaging industry, organized the first “student’s night with executives” together with the CEMS Corporate Affairs Team.
17 Aptar executive managers were through this event brought more closely in line with the CEMSie student life in Vienna.
The evening started with an outdoors aperitif at Library Café where the students and managers split into six intercultural groups; composed by 3 managers and 3 students. Each group headed to different dinner experiences. The plans included for example preparing spring rolls or elaborating a Polish dinner.
These experiences were a real insight of how a real CEMSie life looks like. A cultural exchange with over 15 different nationalities in total was accompanied by a casual and relaxed atmosphere to get to know each other.
The evening ended up in a student’s bar with music and drinks, where all the 36 participants met again to finalize an extraordinary night to remember.
CCV Startup Safari SS 2015

Radical and risky but extremely innovative and forward-thinking, it is young and agile startups that are shaping our society, economy and the future of technology.The CEMS Club Vienna thus invited its students on May 19 to a Startup Safari to explore the local startup scene and get to know some of the top players in the community. On the guided tour throughout the city, the students visited several startup offices and got first-hand insights into founding stories, challenges and maybe even inspired to start the next big thing themselves.The stops included two local startup heroes of mySugr and Whatchado followed by i5invest, a well-kown M&A advisory and seed stage capital firm. Last but not least, the group was invited to join the monthly
AustrianStartups Stammtisch
, one of the most important events in the local scene and the best opportunity to make first connections in the community.McKinsey Recruiting Training SS 2015
The McKinsey Office Vienna invited 11 CEMSies to their office in Vienna to provide exclusive insights in their recruiting process. After a short introduction to the world of McKinsey, the participants learned about what it’s like to work there and could ask the consultants the questions they have always wanted to ask them.
By splitting up into smaller teams, the CEMSies then passed three different stations: A detailed CV check with special clues and advices on successful CVs for the consulting industry by a senior recruiter, an in-depth look at the interview process and the recruiting day by McKinsey, and a case study training with handy hints on approaches and strategies as well as proposed solutions.
After the training sessions, everyone enjoyed the impressions of the afternoon once more in a relaxed and exclusive atmosphere with nice conversations and a delicious buffet and drinks.

CEMS Club Vienna Alumni Relations Panel Discussion: "The after CEMS dilemma - MNC, SME, start-up or the public sector"
On Thursday, 07 May 2015, the CEMS Club Vienna’s Alumni Relations Team organized a panel discussion for current CEMS students and alumni on the topic "The after CEMS dilemma - MNC, SME, start-up or the public sector". During the discussion, which was moderated by CCV Student Board Representative, Tamás Petrovics, students gained valuable insights into diverse career paths in the corporate, SME, start-up and public sectors. All sectors were proudly represented by CEMS alumni speakers, namely Eva Frei (Director Product Management at Aussenwirtschaft Austria), Michael Nayer (Partner at KPMG), Herwig Springer (CEO Corporate Development / M&A at i5invest) and Karl Tschetschonig, (Business Development Manager Aerospace at TTTech). They enriched the discussion with their unique experiences and, most importantly, honest answers. Afterwards, the audience was given the opportunity to ask specific questions in order to deepen their knowledge about what it takes to be successful in the represented sectors.
The organization of the panel discussion was a first successful step in the Alumni Relations team’s aspiration to enhance cooperation between the CCV and the Alumni Association as well as to offer an informal setting for current CEMS students to socialize and learn from representatives of former CEMS generations.
Accenture Case Workshop SS 2015
On Thursday, 30.04.2015, students from the CEMS cohort had the possibility to participate in the “Case Workshop with Accenture” event. As every year, the company is inviting students to compete in their Campus Innovation Challenge 2015, but this year, however, our students had the exclusive chance to get optimally prepared for the challenge and to receive first-hand insights in a workshop with their consultants. After a company introduction the students split up into smaller teams and worked on cases. The afternoon ended then with an informal get-together at the Biergarten Schweizerhaus with nice conversations and Austrian food where students had the chance to ask the consultants on career chances, opportunities and their personal experiences.
CEMS Office Rotation Dinner SS 2015
The corporate events in the SS 2015 began with the traditional Rotation Dinner organized by the CEMS Office. The interest by the corporate partners was big with eight companies taking part: A.T. Kearney, Henkel, L´Oréal, Mondi, OMV, OenB, Procter&Gamble, Unibail-Rodamco and Unicredit. The event was held in Glacis Beisl in MuseumsQuartier, where, during the five-course menu, the students had the opportunity get to know the companies’ representatives, to hear their professional input and to find out more about the work opportunities offered by the Corporate Partners.
CEMS Office Opening Event SS 2015

The CEMS Opening Event for the Spring Term 2015 took place on Monday, 23rd of March in Zoo Schönrunn. The students had the chance to enjoy the nice weather while discovering the oldest zoo in the world. After that everyone gathered for coffee&cake in Tiroler Gasthaus where the CEMS Academic Director, Prof Fisch, and Program Managers, Alina & Jana wished the students a successful start into the semester.
CEMS Waltzing Days 2015

The 2015 CEMS Waltzing Days will be held from January 9th to 11th in Vienna. As always, the event will be one of the most stunning experiences within the CEMS event calendar. The guests will be able to enjoy Vienna’s fabulous imperial atmosphere together with fellow CEMS Students and Alumni from all over the world.
The highlight of the weekend program will be the traditional WU Ball – one of the biggest balls in Vienna in Hofburg, the old Emperor’s palace.

KPMG CV Check in WS 2014/2015

On December 17, 2014 KPMG conducted a CV check for 25 CEMSies. After an introductory presentation about applications in general and application processes in particular, three KPMG employees gave individual feedback on the CVs of the participants. Especially the insights in applications from the view of a recruiter were appreciated by the students and helpful tips for the CVs were obtained.
Students Teach Students Excel Workshop in WS 2014/2015
On the 13th of December the CCV organised its first "Students Teach Students Workshop" to leverage skills within our CEMS community. The CCV Satisfaction Survey showed great interest to learn Excel at various levels so the CEMS Club acted by holding its own Excel lecture. Michael Batko, Head of Corporate Affairs, with the support of Anna Puttinger, Melanie Nimianu, Matthias Hoi and Nicolas Nicola offered 3 sessions; Beginner, Intermediate and VBA Basics for
110 participants
. The Excel sessions covered basics from formatting, vlookups over to more advanced formuli like averageifs, index, match and ended in an introduction of the attendees into the world of Visual Basic coding. The first "Students Teach Students Workshop" was very appreciated by the participants and the CCV will keep up this workshop concept and further leverage the skills amongst our CEMSies.Company visit: MONDI in WS 2014/2015

Our Corporate Partner Mondi invited WU CEMS students on the 13th November 2014 to their new offices which overlook Vienna. After an insight into the company, its products, processes and recruitment opportunities, the CEMS cohort received a very interesting talk from the Head of the Supply Chain Excellence department. That area was especially well matched to the students' interests and lead to an engaging and informative Question and Answer session.
Panel Discussion 'Career Planning - How to Increase your Market Value' in WS 2014/2015

On Thursday, 13.11.2014, the CEMS Club Vienna's Alumni Relations Team invited all students and Alumni to a Panel Discussion on the topic 'Career Planning - How to increase your market value'. The discussion, which was moderated by CCV- President, Andreas Achleitner, gave more than 50 guests valuable insights into career prospects after CEMS, how to highlight personal strengths in CV and interviews, the perfect balance between soft- and hard skills and many more topics. Afterwards, the audience was given the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers Martina Koberg from L'Oréal, Elizabeth Hull from PWC and Karin Kschwendt from Unibail-Rodamco.
The event's great success confirmed the Alumni Relations Team in their decision to organize another Panel Discussion for the upcoming Spring Semester.

P&G CEMSational Cocktails in WS 2014/2015
The "P&G CEMSational Cocktails" took place on Oct. 30th 2014 at Moody's. During this event, which was organized by the CEMS Club Vienna, 30 students had the opportunity to meet 5 company representatives from Procter & Gamble to discuss and network within an informal atmosphere.

Microsoft Office Visit WS 2014/2015

Many of us are working on a daily basis with Microsoft software and/or hardware, but have you ever looked behind the scenes of this big multinational company? We received the possibility and we experienced a very open and easy-going ambience in Microsoft’s Austrian office on 27 October 2014. Nobody has a fixed desk, employees can work wherever they want, meeting rooms are designed according to different themes. Thanks to this atmosphere it became obvious that working for Microsoft is a pleasure for the employees and experiencing these working conditions first-hand during an internship is now highly appreciated by many of us.
CEMS Start-Up Session WS 2014/2015
On October 17th the CEMS Corporate Affairs Team organized the first CEMS Start-Up Session in cooperation with Cisco. At the event 5 successful start-ups (Journi, Flatout Technologies, indoors, Boulesse and Kompany and Cisco discussed with 30 CEMS students the challenges of starting a business and gave advice to future entrepreneurs.
Overall, the event was a great success, not only due to the fruitful discussions during the Q&A session but also the special location. The event took place at the Cisco office on the 27th floor of the Millenium Tower.
CEMS Club's Rotation Dinner WS 2014/2015
The first Rotation Dinner organized by the new Corporate Affairs Team (CCV) was together with 4 companies, namely: ATKearney, Unicredit, PWC, Nestlé and 32 selected students. During the 4 course menu served in the Gmoakeller in Vienna, open discussions, interesting conversations and professional input enabled our CEMSies to get to know each company’s representatives to grow their networks and get an insight into those attractive MNEs.
The overall assessment of the Rotation Dinner was completed by very positive impressions from our companies that highly motivate us to plan the 2nd Dinner organized by the CEMS Club Vienna.

WU CEMS Block Seminars WS 2014/2015

WU CEMS hosted three exciting block seminars. This year’s CEMS Block seminar kick-off event took place in one of Vienna’s oldest and most beautiful restaurants, - a typical Heurigen – Mayer am Pfarrplatz. While enjoying typical Austrian food and fine, all new students got a first impression of the CEMS spirit before everyone started into their individual intensive one-week block seminar on Monday.
The block seminar’s lecture part was held at WU Vienna’s new spectacular campus and gave new students a taste of what the new WU capus has to offer.

made this seminar extremely exciting and very popular among students.· Sustainability Aspects of Global Supply Chains - led by Ass. Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Schramm (Austria), Univ.Prof. Dr. Ulrike Schneider (Austria) and Mag. Alexandra Anderluh. A combination of interactive learning sessions, movies, guest lectures and group works made this year’s supply chain block seminar again a great success. Visits to local firms such as the
DRZ, Demontage- und Recycling-Zentrum
, gave students an interesting insight into the local non-profit economy.· Global Stakeholder Management and Corporate Social Responsibility - led by Mag. Dr. Christof Miska. With a very hands on approach, students learnt about corporate responsibility towards society. The block seminar was again closely tied to our corporate partners such as
Mondi Europe & International, UniCredit and Oesterreichische NationalBank.
The block seminar week ended with a closing event, where all students from the three different block seminars gathered together again to enjoy an amazing dinner at Ellas at the very heart of Vienna’s old town at Judenplatz. The food was delicious and students and faculty members had a great evening reflecting the past week, followed by a deserved night of fun after an intense block seminar week.

CEMS Office Opening Event WS 2014/2015


On 1st October the semester opened officially for all WU CEMS students. During the CEMS Opening Event the students together with Prof. Fisch, the WU CEMS Academic Director, and the CEMS office, Alina, Jana, Marietta, Pavol and Tim visited the THIRD MAN MUSEUM where they learned about the post-war history of Vienna. After the guided tour, students enjoyed the traditional Wiener Mélange & Viennese deserts at Café Standard where they had the opportunity to get to know each other better.

CEMS Office Semester Closing Event SS 2014
Another great semester at CEMS at WU has come to an end. However it would not have been complete without an official closing event organized by the CEMS Office team. This year the event consisted of two main parts. Firstly, around 40 students and representatives of CEMS corporate partners have taken part in a pedal boat regatta. The competition was intense! The winners have received a goody bag with valuable prizes. Secondly, almost 100 students, professors and representatives of corporate partners joined the second part of the evening: BBQ and drinks at the Ufertaverne at Old Danube. CEMS Office Team, Alina and Jana, thanked the attendees for the great semester. The party went on till late in the evening, as everyone was enjoying great view, wonderful summer evening and amazing company.
2014 CEMS Meeting for Program Managers and Corporate Relations Managers

From 11th to 13th of June WU Vienna and its CEMS team have been hosting the annual CEMS Meeting for Program Managers and Corporate Relations Managers. CEMS Representatives from all partners universities have taken part in the event.
The 3-day meeting was held at the newly build and modern WU campus. The participants of the meeting did not only have the chance to work on the future of the CEMS alliance, they had also the opportunity to explore the wonderful city of Vienna between the working sessions.

In 2014 at the initiative of the CEMS Office and the WU CEMS Club the second edition of the CEMS Global Run took place. The success of the initiative has exceeded all expectations: 11 participating CEMS Universities and 106 runners (CEMS students, faculty, office personnel, alumni, Corporate Partner Representatives) competed for the title of the best CEMS Global Runner 2014. WU Vienna succeeded once again in securing top positions in the categories:

WU Master Day SS 2014


On 2 April, the first edition of the WU Master Day 2014 was hosted in Building LC of the WU Campus. Candidates had the oportunity to obtain information on the 15 master programs at WU. CEMS was again represented by the CEMS Academic Director, Prof. Jan Fisch, CEMS Office, Alina, Jana and Nino and CEMS students.
The numerous questions asked after the 20 minute presenation held by Prof Fisch, as well as the uninterrupted flow of students visiting the CEMS stand, confirmed that Master in International Management/CEMS is one of the most appreciated programs within the WU master offer.
CEMS Office Rotation Dinner SS 2014
One the 27th of March 2014 the CEMS Office in cooperation with multiple Corporate Partners has organized a Rotation Dinner, en event that students every semester look forward to. The event was open to an exclusive group of 30 students, who were selected by the representatives of Corporate Partners: A.T. Kearney, Henkel, KMPG, L´Oréal, Mondi, OMV, OeNB, Procter&Gamble, Unibail-Rodamco and Unicredit.
The students received a unique possibility to meet CEMS Corporate Partners in an exclusive environment. A five-course menu was served, and students had switch tables after every course to have an opportunity to talk to several of the CPs. During the course of the evening not only the students got a chance to enjoy delicious menu of the famous Glacis Beisl restaurant, also were they able to ask personal questions about recruitment processes, working environments, etc. in a very informal setting. The representatives of Corporate Partners were also satisfied with tasty dinner and used the evening to source for potential future interns and employees. All the stakeholders participating in the Rotation Dinner, namely CEMS Faculty Members, Office staff, Corporate Partners and students, were highly satisfied with the evening.
Responsible Global Leadership Seminar SS 2014
The academic part of the CEMS Spring Semester 2014 was opened with a two-day seminar, entitled Responsible Global Leadership Seminar and hosted by Dr. Michael Steinmetz. The seminar was aimed for the CEMS students to develop key elements of a new and practical leadership framework that takes account of what has worked just fine in the past, but will also put forward new ways of thinking to address challenges of the future.
During the seminar, three guest speakers were welcomed: the CEO L'Oreal Austria Markus Faschang, the AT Kearney representative Dr. Robert Kremlicka, and the Managing Director Fair Trade Austria Mr. Hartwig Kirner. The talk was very insightful and interactive, the students were really eager to participate and exchange their standpoints. The students were also given a case to solve where they needed to sum-up a problem, find the key issues and propose a recommendation. In the seminar, not only were the students able to train their leadership skills, but also to get to know their fellow CEMSies by working together.
On Sunday 16th of March, the seminar was closing perfectly matched the spring semester opening with the Welcome Party at All in Club, where the students got a chance to loosen up and have a good semester start.
CEMS Office Opening Event SS 2014

Every new CEMS semester starts with a Welcome Event organized by the CEMS Office. The SS 2014 was not an exception. Members of the faculty, representatives of the CEMS Office, incoming and home students gathered in the All in Club to celebrate this occasion. We were meeting new friends, greeting the ones coming back from semesters abroad, talking to the professors in an informal atmosphere, dancing and just having fun - all of this in the CEMSational spirit. Great way to start a new exciting semester!
CEMS Waltzing Days 2014

From January 10th - 12th 2014 the CEMS Club Vienna and CEMS Alumni Association Austria hosted the famous CEMS Waltzing Days for a 12th consecutive year. The event is one of the most stunning experiences within the CEMS event calendar. More than 170 fellow CEMS Students and Alumni from all over the world waltzed together and enjoyed Vienna's fabulous imperial atmosphere.
The weekend program started with a traditional Viennese dinner. On Saturday the participants had the chance to learn how to dance the waltz in Vienna's most prestigious dancing school - Elmayer. This was followed by a sightseeing tour around Vienna's most beautiful landmarks. In the evening students and alumni gathered together for a cocktail before heading to the WU Ball - the highlight of the weekend. The WU ball takes place in Hofburg, the old emperor's palace, which is the most beautiful setting for a glamorous ball night in Vienna. On the next day the participants were invited to a brunch at the famous coffeehouse Café Central, where they could discuss the events of the night over breakfast and Viennese coffee.
The CEMS Waltzing days 2014 were a huge success and we are already looking forward to their next edition in 2015!
CEMS Office Semester Closing Event WS 2013/2014
On the 17th of December, regardless of exam stress and tough schedules, CEMS students, staff members and representatives of corporate partners gathered to celebrate the end of the semester and upcoming Christmas. For this year's Christmas party a cozy Chill-out Lounge in the first district of Vienna was chosen. For many of the students it was the last chance to say goodbye to fellow colleagues before going back home. For others it was a relaxing evening in between exam and final presentations. Everyone exchanged holiday greetings and CEMS Office Team, Alina & Jana, congratulated everyone literally from the bar counter. The evening was very friendly and warm. Yet another great event in real CEMS-spirit.
L'Oréal and CEMS Case Study WS 2013/2014

L'Oréal invited CEMS students to join a case study event. The workshop was focused around a launch of a new product in the selective cosmetic market. Students had have a chance to create a 360-degree marketing campaign for Biotherm Homme with support of group product manager of the brand. After the workshop students were invited to participate in a kicker tournament against L'Oréal managers.
Master Day WS 2013/2014
On the 6th of November CEMS office team, Steffi, Jana, Alina and Anton and CEMS students have taken part in the WU Master Day 2013. The event took place on the WU campus. Representatives of all WU master programs have participated. CEMS team was not only representing the CEMS/International Management program at WU, but also was there on behalf of the whole CEMS Alliance. Many prospective students have visited the CEMS stand and have shown vast interest in CEMS program by asking various questions. Academic director of CEMS Program at WU, Prof. Jonas Puck, has held an introductory 20-minute speech about the structure of CEMS master program and admission requirements. Representatives of CEMS partner universities also took part in the event. Attending students could find information about Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, HEC Paris - School of Management, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Louvain School of Management, , NOVA School of Business and Economics, Bocconi University and University of St. Gallen.
CEMS Office Opening Event WS 2013/2014
On 24th September, 2013 the CEMS Office invited all WU CEMS students and CEMS Incomings to MUMOK (Museum of Modern Arts) in the heart of Vienna to participate in one of three possible guided tours through several exhibitions. The event was started by a brief word of welcome in the new academic year and semester by CEMS Academic Director Prof. Jonas Puck and the CEMS team, Steffi and Jana. The exhibitions showed a lot of faces of modern arts and were well received by the students. Afterwards, the group proceeded to the subsequent Cupcake Brunch in the fancy MUMOK Cupcake Restaurant. The whole event was very nice, was held in a pleasant informal atmosphere and gave everyone the opportunity to meet his/her fellow students and the CEMS team.
Welcome Week WS 2013/2014
The CEMS Club Vienna in cooperation with the CEMS Office Vienna organized a Welcome Week from the 21.09.2013 to 28.09.2013. The students of the new cohort, the established home school students returning from their exchange as well as the incoming students from other CEMS schools had the chance to get to know each other.

CEMS Office Semester Closing Event SS 2013
At the end of the summer semester it is tradition that the CEMS Office invites students for a semester closing event, with the possibility to enjoy the beginning of the summer and to start saying goodbye. The event started with a pedal boat regatta, organized by the Segelschule Hofbauer. The winning team "Shut up and paddle" could enjoy goodie bags from Corporate Partners P&G and L'Oréal.
Following the regatta, a barbecue dinner was organized. While enjoying a mellow summer night with a stunning sunset, the CEMS students, staff and Corporate Partners were able to enjoy the marvelous food and drinks. The atmosphere was relaxed, although some students were still in the stress of studying for exams. This however could not spoil their mood, as they went swiming or next to the Danube riverside. Altogether the semester closing was truly a fabolous conclusion of the summer semester 2013.
CEMS Global Run / IfU Managementmeile SS 2013

The CEMS Office Vienna, the CEMS Club Vienna and the CEMS Alumni Association invited to participate in the traditional IfU-Managementmeile 2013, gathering students, alumni and employees of the WU Vienna, stakeholders and enterprises related to the WU with an interest in sport and running. The IfU-Managementmeile is an established running event at WU Vienna for 27 years already.
However not only were CEMS students and alumni running Vienna, but simultaneously in London, Helsinki, Budapest and Sao Paolo as the Managementmeile gave occasion to the first "CEMS Global Run". Overall, five CEMS schools joined, namely the Aalto University School of Business in Helsinki, the Corvinus University of Budapest, the Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo-FGV, the London School of Economics and Political Science and the WU Vienna University of Economics and Business.
On the 14th June 2013, 6:30 CEST (or the respective local time), 48 runners were warmed up to start for a global 5km run. The next 20 to 30 minutes students, alumni and 1 professor were racing for the title of the CEMS Global Runner 2013. Unfortunate weather conditions forced the Aalto runners to postpone their run for 1 day, but holding up the CEMS spirit, they met again to run for the title.
In the end it was the WU Vienna, who proved to have the fastest CEMSies: Carola Bendl-Tschiedel, a 2008 graduate, clearly won the women's competition with 20 minutes and 20 seconds. In the men's category, Patrick Spath came first with the fastest time of the day: 18 minutes and 8 seconds. A fun fact: both of them went to the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) for exchange, a school known for its sports spirit.
For the team competition however, WU had to admit defeat to the incredibly fast LSE runners, who won the 'students' competition in the accumulated time of under 1 hour (58 min, 15 sec): Aurian de Villiers de la Noue, Teemu Ruska and Niklas Ogiermann. In the "mixed" category, only WU teams were starting, therefore the team of Jonas Puck (professor), Andreas Paulhart (alumnus) and Patrick Spath (student) could secure the first spot with close under 1 hour and 5 minutes.
CEMS Office - Drinks with Booz & Co. SS 2013

The CEMS Office invites students got to know management consultancy Booz & Co. "Drinks with Booz" took place on the 07 June 2013, on the premises of Booz & Company Vienna. During this event, students had the opportunitiy to meet several consultants, who shared their insights and experience of the world of a strategy and IT consultant.
CEMS Office Webinar Infosession SS 2013
On 29 May 2013, the CEMS Office together with the CEMS Club Vienna provided a web information session with live video broadcasting to WU Vienna for the new student cohort of 2013/2014. Students had the chance to join online in order to raise questions about the upcoming semester start in fall and organizational as well as administrative issues. Steffi Winterfeld and Jana Belochova, the CEMS Programme Manager and CEMS Corporate Relations Manager, as well as Thomas Lindner, president of the CEMS Club Vienna answered the questions live per webcam. The session was well appreciated by all participants, as they could not only raise questions, but also see the respondents in person. CEMS Club Vienna Rhetoric Workshop in cooperation with AFA SS 2013
In coordination with the Academic Forum for Exchange Policy (AFA) and their debating club, the CEMS Club invited CEMS students to participate in a rhetoric workshop on 28 May 2013 from 17:00 to 20:00. The interactive communication workshop was hosted by Roman Pable, debating state championship winner of 2013. After a short introduction in the world and theory of debating, participants had the chance to practice debating about an unfamiliar topic as well as preparing their own 'elevator pitch'. Feedback was presented to each participant right away.
The workshop was very well appreciated by all participants, particulary with respect to the importance of public speech and discussions "with arguments, not opinions" for a student of international management.

CEMS Club Vienna Photo Day SS 2013
On Saturday, 18 May 2013 from 10:00 to 17:00, the CEMS Club Vienna organized a business/casual clothes photo session in the world-famous Stallburg in the heart of Veinna. Students had the opportunity to let pictures for application or other purposes taken. 30 students had pictures of themselves taken, both in professional clothing for application purposes and in casual set-up for private use. The event was very well appreciated by the students, not least because of the great work by photographers Anna Ullrich and Herbert "Herby" Gmoser. A special thanks goes to the Academic Forum for Foreign Politics (AFA) that provided their premises for the pictures.
CEMS & Oikos CSR Day SS 2013
The CEMS Club Vienna together with Oikos Vienna organized on 26 April 2013 a CSR with workshops, seminars and a panel discussion around the topic Corporate Social Responsibility. Selected students had the chance to register for workshops, accredited with ECTS and the general public was invited to participate in the concluding panel discussion at WU's Festsaal.
Recognised experts such as Hartwig Kirner (Managing Director Fair Trade Austria), Dr. Reinhard Steurer (Boku), Katharina Kronsteiner (Gemeinwohl Ökonomie), Claudia Arthur-Flatz (UNODC) and Dr. Fred Luks (CSR manager with vast experiences in the financial industry) were providing interesting insights into the broad field of CSR while discussing the role of CSR in today's society. The discussion was active and engaging, particularly around provoking topics such as the question whether CSR can be seen as a supplement or even substitute to governmental regulation.
The panel discussion was well appreciated from both experts and audience, the discussion was carried even further in a relaxed atmosphere during the following get-together. Altogether, the CSR Day proved to be a successful concept that will be replicated in the coming semesters. CEMS Office Rotation Dinner SS 2013
On April 25th the CEMS Office invited 30 CEMS students to a corporate networking event of a special kind: the CEMS Office Rotation Dinner.
Held at the famous Glacis Beisl, the 30 students were served a delicious 5-course-dinner. With each course, the students were rotating to different tables, where they would discuss, network and exchange ideas with representatives of CEMS corporate partners. As such, the students had the chance to get a personal glimpse on each Corporate Partner and to promote themselves in order to make a first step to potential internships or entry positions. Likewise, the recruiters and representatives of Corporate Partners had the extraordinary opportunity to get to know a multitude of Viennese CEMS students on a personal basis and to promote their graduate programmes and internship possibilities to the CEMS talent pool.
Among the Corporate Partners were A.T.Kearney, Henkel, L´Oréal, Mondi, OMV, OenB, Procter & Gamble, Unibail-Rodamco and Unicredit/Bank Austria. The event was very well appreciated both from student as well as from Corporate Partner's side and thus continues its success story since its implementation.
CEMS Club Vienna Case Challenge SS 2013

The CEMS Club Vienna together with the top-notch consultancy firm Roland Berger invites 18 CEMS students from WU Vienna to participate in an exclusive Case Study Challenge on 05 April 2013. The students will be assigned in teams and handed out a case study that they will solve during the day in their team. Consultants and recruiters from Roland Berger will support the students and simultaneously assess their ability to solve the case. In the evening, all students teams will present their solution and a winner will be assigned. This is not only a great possibility to practice case study based interviews and assessment centers, but also a great opportunity to convince Roland Berger of one's capabilities.

On the 6 March 2013 the CEMS Office invited all students of the summer semester to the Museum of Young Art (MOYA) in the heart of Vienna to participate in a tour with the new Hungarian artist Naomi Devil. The tour was held with a representative of the museum and the artist herself. This gave the student the great opportunity to explore the young artist's work while being able to enquire about her motivation, influence and methodology. The tour was concluded with a brief word of welcome in the new semester by CEMS Academic Director Prof. Jonas Puck and a subsequent brunch.
Welcome Week SS 2013
The summer semester 2013 started with a series of events from the 02-10 March 2013, organized mainly by the CEMS Club Vienna. The incoming students from other CEMS universities and WU students in their 2nd and 4th semester had the chance to mingle on the occasion of the semester start. With the first real sunshine spring day of 2013 the Welcome Week could not have started any better. 42 students made their way to Klosterneuburg, a picturesque small town adjacent to Vienna. The group, which consisted half of home and half of incoming students started with a small day hike up the hill to enjoy the magnificent view on the Danube Valley. During the hike the students were split up in teams and given out task such as taking a "CEMSational Photo" or finding out the age of the youngest and oldest student on the trip. After the day hike the group went to see Austria oldest winery in the monastery of Klosterneuburg followed by a wine tasting and a later afternoon dinner in a typical "Heurigen", where the winners of the task challenge had been rewarded with Corporate Partner goodie bags. After returning to Vienna, a party at the legendary restaurant "Shiraz" was organized, traditionally the place to start the official semester for CEMS students.
CEMS Snows Day WS 2012/2013
The CEMS Club Vienna invited for yet another Pan-European event after the famous Waltzing Days 2013. For two days a group of 55 students was going skiing to Nassfeld in Corinthia and enjoyed the beautiful weather and fantastic skiing conditions (at least on one of the days). CEMS students from 10 schools have signed up for the trip, making the Snow Days 2013 one of the most diverse pan-european events of the alliance. Particularly CEMS students from University of St. Gallen and University of Economics Prague came especially for this occasion to Austria.
Cocktails with Booz&Co. WS 2012/2013

The Austrian branch of the American consulting firm Booz&Company invited selected CEMS students for an informal get-together in their office in Vienna. After a short introduction by one of the partners, the students had the possiblity to talk to company representatives over a glass of wine in order to get an insight into the life as a consultant.
Welcome Weekend WS 2012/2013
Already a tradition since a long time, the CEMS Club Vienna, sponsored by the local CEMS office, hosted again mid-October the famous Welcome Weekend for all new CEMS students at WU. Over 100 students started the journey on saturday morning to Purbach at the Neusiedlersee. After some ice-breaker activities the students learnt more about the activities and upcoming events of the CEMS club and the local CEMS office. Subsequently the creative input of the students was asked during a workshop session on the improvement and expansion of the CEMS Club's activities. In the later afternoon the students were competing against each other in some outdoor activities. The highlight of the day was the "Farmer's party" in the evening, where the student's dancing capabilities were highly demanded. After a rich brunch on Sunday morning, students enjoyed the nice sunny mid-autumn weather during some bicycle rides and walks through the region's vineyards before we made us on our way back to Vienna.
