Important notes regarding Erasmus+ internship funding:
The application form is open for internships starting from September 2025 onwards.
Grants are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and depend on available funding. Please note that applications may be declined if funds are no longer available!
Due to budgetary restrictions, please note the following applies until further notice:
Internships in the country of origin (= country of nationality) will be funded for a maximum duration of two months.
Mobility to the country of origin is not possible if students usually reside and have their center of life in the neighboring country, including cross-border commuters.
Post-graduate internships: Maximum funding duration is two months
All other internships: Maximum funding duration is four months
General information

Financial support for a self-organized internship abroad
The internship must take place in one of the 27 EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia, or Türkiye.
Multiple funded stays abroad of up to 12 months per study cycle (e.g., bachelor's or master's degree) are possible.
Grants awarded are subject to available funding.
Prerequisites & requirements
Internship requirements:
Duration: Full-time (30+ hours per week) for at least two months (60 days).
Bachelor’s students: Must have completed 36 ECTS credits (excluding free electives).
Master’s students: Must be enrolled at WU Vienna. For German-taught programs, the introductory/assessment course must be completed.
Additional conditions:
The internship must be relevant to your field of study or offer clear educational value.
On-site presence at the host organization is required.
Internships can be done at any entrepreneurial organization, except:
EU institutions (e.g., European Commission)
Organizations managing EU programs (see list)
Further notes:
BBE and BAWISO (IBW) students: Can earn ECTS credits via an internship abroad and a related seminar (see info here).
CEMS internships: Not eligible for Erasmus+ funding, as CEMS internships do not meet the requirement of earning at least 3 ECTS credits per month.

Financial information
Erasmus+ grants cover a part of the living expenses that you incur during a stay abroad. The following monthly allowances will apply:

The grant will be paid directly by WU Vienna.
80% paid at the beginning of your stay
20% paid after completion of your exchange and submission of all documents!
Payment is only made to your personal bank account.
