Subway, busses and tramways in Vienna

In Vienna, public transport is operated by Wiener Linien. There are subways, tramways, busses and night busses.

The subway system in Vienna consists of five lines: U1, U2, U3, U4 and U6. Additionally, line U5 will enter into function in 2026.

The numbers of bus lines are usually followed by an 'A' (for example, 13A), and the direction of the bus is indicated by the name of the final stop posted on the bus.

During the week, subways, tramways and busses start circulating at about 5.00 am and stop running between midnight and 1.00 am. On weekends and on nights before public holidays, the subway lines are available all night, at 15-minutes intervals.

On weekdays, after the subway stops circulating, night busses start operating throughout the city at 30-minute intervals (night busses have an 'N' before their number).
