General Questions about the MSc Marketing Program
Q: When does the MSc Marketing program start?
A: Our MSc Marketing program starts once a year with a kick-off at the beginning of the winter semester. It is not possible to start the program in spring
Q: How many students are in one cohort?
A: Each year, we admit 90 students who begin the program together as one cohort
Q: What are the tuition fees for the MSc Marketing? Can I get a waiver of tuition fees?
A: The Tuition fees are set by the WU Admissions Office. Please refer to this link for the most current information. For personal inquiries, please contact the WU Admissions Office directly at master.application@wu.ac.at.
Q: Is it possible to study MSc Marketing part-time / can I take classes remotely?
A: Our program is a full-time, on campus program. Attendance during all lectures is obligatory. All courses are taught here in Vienna at WU campus.
Q: What are my chances of being accepted to the program?
A: We have a competitive admissions process. Usually we receive up to 400 applications per year from all over the world for 90 spots in every cohort.
Q: Are there any scholarships available for the program?
A: There are no scholarships given by the university. Further information is available here.
Q: Is it possible to work besides studying the MSc Marketing program?
A: Our master's program is full-time, with courses held in both the morning and afternoon, alongside exams, individual assignments, and group projects. For this reason, we do not recommend working during the first year of the program, as it is very time-intensive. If you do need to work, we recommend limiting this to a maximum of 10–15 hours per week during your first year.
Q: I don’t speak German, can I still apply for the MSc Marketing program?
A: Yes of course! Our program is taught entirely in English and we welcome internationals from all around the world every year.

Q: What is WUMA?
A: WUMA stands for WU Marketing Association, our student club run by MSc Marketing students for MSc Marketing students. Students can get involved by joining one of its various departments. WUMA organizes workshops with corporate partners, joint events with other WU master's programs, seasonal parties, and trips. To learn more, click here.
Questions about the MSc Marketing Application Process
Q: I am interested in applying for the MSc Marketing program. Where do I apply?
A: Applications are accepted exclusively through our online application tool during the application period. There are three application deadlines: October 8, January 8, and March 8. during the application period.
Q: How does the application process work?
A: Our application process is highly competitive and consists of three steps:
1. Formal review by the Admissions Office: Once you submit your application, WU's Admissions Office checks whether you meet the formal requirements for the program. You can find the requirements here.
2. Review of application documents: If you meet the formal requirements, your application is forwarded to the program management team. All candidates are ranked, and selected candidates proceed to the next step: an online interview with KIRA Talent.
3. Non-live online interview: In this step, candidates typically have 3–5 days to complete a non-live online interview at a time of their choosing, conducted via KIRA Talent.
The online interview is the final step. After this, the Admissions Office will notify you of your application outcome within a maximum of 5 weeks.
Q: I am interested in an Exchange semester/Double Degree. When do I have to communicate this?
A: You can only apply for an exchange semester or double degree after successfully completing the application process, receiving an offer, and starting your studies, during your first semester. An information session with the International Office, held after the start of your program, will give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
Q: Can I re-apply in the next application rounds if I am not accepted in the first or second application round?
A: Yes. Please note that, timing-wise, it is only possible to reapply for the third deadline if you were not admitted in the first round, since the results of the second deadline are communicated only after the third deadline has already passed.
Application: Bachelor's Degree Prerequisite
Q: What prerequisites does my bachelor's degree need to meet?
A: Your degree must comprise at least 180 ECTS credits (equivalent to three academic years), including at least 30 ECTS credits in business administration and/or economics, and 8 ECTS credits in mathematics, statistics, and/or quantitative methods.
Q: Can I send you my transcripts to pre-evaluate whether my degree meets the required ECTS credits?
A: No, unfortunately not. We receive hundreds of applications, therefore WU Vienna does not offer pre-evaluation of applications. The required prerequisites can only be checked once you submit a complete application.
Q: If my degree does not meet the formal requirements, does WU offer any bridging courses?
A: No, WU does not offer bridging courses to make up missing ECTS credits
Q: Is it possible to take additional courses at another university to meet the required ECTS credits?
A: If your degree does not meet the specific requirements, you may upload official transcripts (stamped and signed, or bearing a verifiable digital signature from your university) documenting additional courses. Please note that we only consider relevant courses completed at a recognized post-secondary institution. If the institution does not use the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), we will require official documentation of the program's legally required duration and the number of credits or weekly hours needed for completion.
Q: Is it possible to apply if I have not yet completed my bachelor's degree at the time of application?
A: Yes, you may apply if you have not yet completed your bachelor's degree. Please submit all available transcripts so we can assess whether it is realistic for you to complete your degree in time to enroll in our master's program.

Q: Which English language certificates do you accept?
A: Please refer to the admission requirements here.
Q: If I do not receive my English certificate in time, can I submit it after the application deadline?
A: No, your application must be complete, including all required documents, by the official deadline. Documents cannot be added afterward.
Application: Proof of Aptitude
Q: Which certificates are accepted as proof of aptitude for the MSc Marketing program?
A: As proof of achievement potential, we require a valid GMAT or GRE test result. Please make sure to select our university as the recipient of your results, otherwise we will not be able to verify them.
Q: What are the minimum required scores for the GMAT or GRE??
A: There is no minimum score, but the average GMAT score among admitted students is 575. As the GRE has only recently been added to our admission requirements, we do not yet have an average score for it.
Q: I have several years of professional experience in business. Can I get a waiver for the GMAT or GRE requirement?
A: No, it is not possible to apply without a valid GMAT or GRE test result.
Q: If I do not receive my test result in time, can I submit it after the application deadline?
A: No, your application must be complete, including all required documents, by the official deadline. It is not possible to add the test result afterward.
Application: Admissions Decisions & Enrollment
Q: The final step of the application process is over. When can I expect an answer?
A: After our last application step (the non-live online interview) we will make the final decision and inform the Admissions Office. After the last step, it usually takes up to five weeks until you receive an answer.
Q: I have applied for more than one master’s program at WU. Will I receive several admission offers?
A: No. If you are applying to several master’s programs and you receive an offer from your first priority, then you will not receive any other offers. Hence, choose your priorities wisely.
Q: I have received an offer. What are my next steps?
A: Great! After reception of the admission offer applicants have 10 days time for acceptance of the offer and payment of the admission deposit.
Q: Can I accept the offer but start my studies one year later?
A: No, this is unfortunately not possible.
