The workshop “LEHRE kompakt” offers new lecturers an overview of the most important information, regulations and services related to teaching at WU.

Topics covered:

• How can you deal with student absences?

• What should you consider when examining and assessing?

• How can you detect and deal with plagiarism?

• How can the Canvas WU learning management system support you?

• What teaching technologies are available in the classrooms and for asynchronous teaching (e.g. digital whiteboard, survey, presentation and brainstorming tools, lecture recording, web conferencing tools)?

• What teaching support services are available at WU?

Target audience: Lecturers who will be teaching for the first time or who will start teaching at WU in the coming semesters.

The workshop „LEHRE kompakt Didaktik“ provides an introduction to higher education didactics.

Topics covered:

• How do I plan a course (at WU)?

• What methods can I use to activate students in the course?

• What should feedback look like to optimally support student learning?

• What support services are available at WU if I want to further develop my teaching skills?

Target audience: Lecturers who would like to gain an insight into higher education didactics

As generative AI tools have become part of students' daily workflows, educators are facing new questions: How can we ensure that students engage meaningfully with course material? When is the use of AI appropriate, and when does it undermine learning? How can we design valid assessments? 

In this workshop, we will focus on concrete strategies to respond to student use (and misuse) of AI tools - from rethinking learning outcomes to adapting assessments and integrating (reflection on) AI use. We will explore ways to design activities that make it harder for students to rely solely on AI, while helping them to focus on developing essential skills.
