• Eligible programs: If you are enrolled in the Bachelor's Program in Business and Economics (BBE) or in the 2023 Bachelor's Program in Business, Economics, and Social Sciences (German: BAWISO) with a major in International Business Administration, you are eligible to apply for the double degree program.

• Application requirement: To apply, you must have completed at least 36 ECTS credits at WU Vienna (excluding free electives).

• Shortlisted candidates: Suitable candidates will be shortlisted and invited to an interview. Please make sure to check your WU email inbox regularly for interview invitations.

• Business and Economics (BBE): No separate proof of English proficiency is required. Enrollment in an English-taught program is considered sufficient.

• Business, Economics, and Social Sciences (BAWISO): No separate proof of English proficiency is required. Successful completion of the WU course "Communicating in International Contexts (CIC)" is accepted as proof.

• Note: You are not required to submit proof of language proficiency during the application process at WU Vienna. However, you must ensure that valid proof is available when registering with the partner university – typically in the semester before your exchange.

• In the semester before your exchange, you must complete the course "Cross-Cultural Competence" (3 ECTS credits).

• Business and Economics (BBE): Successful completion of this course will reduce the number of "Free Electives" by 3 ECTS credits.

• Business, Economics, and Social Sciences (BAWISO): Earned ECTS credits count towards the subject "Cross-Cultural Competence" (German: Interkulturelle Kompetenz).

• Program duration: Eight semesters (240 ECTS credits) – semesters six and seven are to be completed at the partner university.

• Partner university: Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia

• Prerequisites: You must select one of the following eight majors at QUT: Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, Management, Marketing, Economics, Behavioral Economics, or Entrepreneurship and Innovation. • Program duration: Eight semesters (240 ECTS credits) – students spend the first two years at WU Vienna, followed by years three and four at Queen’s University.

• Program duration: Six semesters (190 ECTS credits) – students spend the first two years at WU Vienna, followed by year three at Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

• Partner university: Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Católica Porto Business School, Portugal

• Prerequisites: Before beginning your studies abroad, it is essential to complete the required prerequisite courses at WU Vienna. Please consult this program structure document to identify the specific courses/modules you must complete.

• Application requirement: You must be enrolled in Foreign Business Language Communication I during the semester in which you apply for the double degree program.

• Applications are only accepted during the winter semester, specifically within the double degree application period.

• Business and Economics (BBE): You must apply three semesters (one and a half years) in advance of your intended exchange stay.

• Business, Economics, and Social Sciences (BAWISO): You need to apply two semesters (one year) in advance of your intended double degree start.

The following information will automatically be added to your application (reflecting the most recent updates as of the submission date):

• A list of courses that you have successfully completed at WU Vienna by the time of your application. The list contains only course titles and no grades. It will be available to the WU faculty member interviewing you for the extracurricular score. 

• Your grade point average (GPA) (updated for the day you submitted your application)

• You will receive an academic score and an extracurricular score. The academic score constitutes 60% of your overall score, while the extracurricular score accounts for 40%. The overall score will serve as the basis for the allocation of an exchange place.

• Academic score: The academic score corresponds to your grade point average (GPA) and includes all finalized grades.

• Extracurricular score: Shortlisted applicants undergo an interview that evaluates the categories motivation, engagement, social & intercultural skills, and personal impression. Each category is assessed individually using a four-level scale: Outstanding - Good - Fair - Did Not Meet Expectations. Motivation makes up 40% of the extracurricular score, while the other categories each account for 20%. Special consideration is given to your ability to demonstrate self-reflection and potential for self-development.

• Business and Economics (BBE): Once the application period ends, all documents will be automatically forwarded to WU faculty member Dr. Tobias Polzer.

• Business, Economics, and Social Sciences (BAWISO): Once the application period ends, all documents will be forwarded to the International Office. A group of 10 to 15 students will then be shortlisted and invited to group interviews. These interviews will be conducted by WU faculty member Prof. Bettina Fuhrmann. Group interviews are expected to be scheduled between November 13, 2025 – November 15, 2025.

• Please note: Only applicants who are shortlisted will be invited to an interview as part of the selection process

• Approximately two weeks after the double degree application period ends, you will receive an email from the International Office about the outcome of your application.

• If you were not selected for the double degree program, you still have the opportunity to apply for an exchange semester during the regular application periods.

• If you were selected for the double degree program, you cannot participate in an additional exchange semester during your bachelor's degree.

• After completion of your stay abroad, make sure your transcript is sent to your WU coordinator at the International Office.

• You will receive a final grade based on your grade average (weighted according to the ECTS credits earned). The grade will be included in your WU transcript under the subject “Double Degree Studies”.

• You do not have to apply for credit transfer with the Study Service Center. The International Office will enter your grade into WU's data system.
