The online seminar offers an insight into the possibilities of the learning management system Canvas WU. Basic functionalities and applications are presented that are relevant for setting up a course before the start of the semester or for guiding students during the semester.

The contents of this offering can be considered minimum requirements for implementing a Canvas-supported course.

Content:

• Profile settings and personal dashboard

• Course functionality and course settings

  • Edit course start page

  • Create and structure modules

    • Add content to the course (content page, files)

    • Create assignments and quizzes

    • Create assignment groups

  • Create groups and set group tasks

• Communicate with students

  • Announcements

  • Discussions

  • Inbox

• Grade assignments in SpeedGrader and gradebook

• Share materials

  • Basic information about BluePrint courses (= manage parallel courses)

  • Share course materials and content with others
