Foundations of DE

The course is designed for all students starting the Digital Economy program. The program brings together some of the most important topics shaping our world today, including information systems, blockchain, digital business models, and digital law. That interdisciplinary approach, however, means students need a solid foundation across several areas. This course provides that foundation in three core areas: Economics, Statistics, and Technology. So that students can proceed with the more advanced concepts. 

The course will cover: 

• Fundamental concepts of market formation based on demand and supply 

• Effects of market power on the efficiency of the market 

• Fundamental concepts of Data and Measurement 

• Basic understanding of inference and distinction between correlation and causation 

• Fundamental understanding of linear algebra 

• Basic concepts of logic and databases
