Learning Outcomes:
After attending this course, students are aware of the main ethical issues involved in the design of computer systems. They know about core system design options to build ethically sustainable systems and understand how management objectives can collide with ethically established values.

Content: This course introduces students to the Value-based Engineering Method.
More specifically, students will get an:

• overview of various approaches to technical innovation planning and alternative system development life-cycles, including ethical system design cycles

• introduction to corporate, technical, social and human values as well as the value construct as such

• introduction to ethical theories and how to use them in system design for value elicitation and prioritization

• insight into case studies eliciting values for system design and translating these into system requirements
