FAQ Selection Procedure

Important Note

The entire selection procedure for the bachelor’s program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences is conducted in German - including all communications with applicants, the OSA, and the online Open Book Exam. Sufficient proficiency in German is necessary for taking part in the selection procedure.
Please note that we do not cover or refund any expenses you may incur in connection with the selection and admission procedure.

The following special provisions apply to selected applicants:

Have you already been admitted and enrolled in our bachelor’s program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences in the past? You do not need to register for the selection procedure and can directly enroll in the program during the enrollment period.
Do you have a long-lasting physical or mental impairment that makes it difficult or impossible for you to take the online Open Book Exam? Please contact the WU BeAble team (beable@wu.ac.at) during the registration period. The WU BeAble team will work with you to find out if and how you can participate in the online Open Book Exam. Please note: You still have to register for the selection procedure and complete step 1, if it is held. Exceptions to the regular selection procedure for this group of applicants apply only to the online Open Book Exam.

The WISO selection procedure consists of the following steps:

Anfangen Studium - WISO

To be admitted, you must first pass the selection procedure.

You can only register for the WISO selection procedure between March 1, 2023 and May 22, 2023.

If you successfully complete it, you can start in next summer or winter semester.

For the final admission to the program, you will need a high school diploma at the latest by the end of July.

Anzahl Bewerber zugelassen - WISO

For WISO, 2703 new students can be admitted this year.

Aufnahmeprüfung - WISO

The online Open Book Exam for WISO is on July 4, 2023 from 9am till 1pm (CET).

Unfortunately, no alternative date is possible.

You will receive the access link and further information by email.

The evaluation will be based on the correct response to tasks, format and structure, and language skills.

Deutschkenntnisse - WISO

The Bachelor WISO is taught in German.

Therefore, for admission you need to present a proof of German language proficiency (at least level C1) accepted by WU.

You have to upload it in the Registration Tool by the end of July at the latest.

Englischzertifikat - WISO

The Bachelor WISO is taught in German.

This means that you don't have to prove any English skills.

Gültigkeit Registrierungsgebühr - WISO

The registration fee is only valid for the program for which you payed it.

The fee is also only valid for up to 2 semesters after payment.

You can start the WISO-Bachelor in the following winter or summer semester without having to pay the registration fee again.

After that, you will have to pass the admission procedure again and thus pay the registration fee again.

Ob Aufnahmeverfahren stattfindet - WISO

The WISO selection procedure only takes place if more than 2703 people have registered.

If you have registered successfully, you will be informed about it by email after May 25, 2023.

Registrierung Aufnahmeverfahren - WISO

The online registration for WISO is only possible from March 1, 2023 until May 22, 2023.

And is only finalized by paying the registration fee before May 22, 2023.

Start semester - WISO

If you successfully complete the admission procedure for WISO, you can start in next summer or winter. semester.

The winter semester starts on October 1. But you can already attend the summer university in September.

The summer semester then starts on March 1, and the winter university already in February.

For the WISO entrance exam there are no study materials available

Was wenn kein Aufnahmeverfahren - WISO

If you successfully registered for WISO AND there is no selection procedure you can enroll for the winter or the summer semester.

Of course you also need to meet all formal admission requirements and your documents need to get checked by the admission team first.

To be admitted, make an appointment in the Registration Tool.

For the winter semester 2023/24 you can do that between July 10, 2023 and September 5, 2023.

For the summer semester between January 8, 2024 and February 5, 2024.

Sprachkompetenzen

For the evaluation of written assignments, special attention is paid to:

The link only becomes active when the exam starts.

Inhalt Prüfung - WISO

There is no specific exam material that you can prepare for the Online Open Book Exam.

You'll have to answer 2 questions, each divided into sub-questions.

They can be answered using your existing knowledge and some online research during the exam.

So, make sure you have a good internet connection during the exam.

For WISO you don't have to write a Motivation Statement.
