Below we have collected and answered some of the most frequently asked questions about the selection procedure at WU.
General information about the selection procedure and admission process
How do I find out if there will be a selection procedure after expiration of the registration period?
If you have successfully registered by May 22 and paid the registration fee, you will receive an email, letting you know if the selection procedure will be held or not.
If no selection procedure is needed, what are my next steps?
If no selection procedure is held, you can enroll in the program you registered for. During the admission period, go to the online registration page to make an appointment at the Admissions Office. The documents you will need to bring to your appointment are listed on the registration page, as well. For more information on enrollment, please see the Application Guide.
Who should I contact if I don't receive the necessary information?
Please write an email to aufnahmeverfahren@wu.ac.at. We will do our best to answer as promptly as possible. It's important to us to answer your questions completely and accurately, so we may not be able to respond the same day.
Can I start studying in the summer semester?
Business, Economics and Social Sciences: If you have successfully completed the selection procedure, you can also enroll and start studying in the summer semester. For example: If you participated in the selection procedure in the spring of 2023, you are entitled to enroll in either the 2023/24 winter semester or the 2024 summer semester.
Business Law: If you have successfully completed the selection procedure, you can also enroll and start studying in the summer semester. For example: If you participated in the selection procedure in the spring of 2023, you are entitled to enroll in either the 2023/24 winter semester or the 2024 summer semester.
Business and Economics: This program can only be started in the fall.
Registration
General information on registration
I don't have my Matura certificate/secondary school diploma yet. Do I need it to register?
No, you don't need to present your Matura certificate/secondary school diploma until you actually enroll in your program. If you do already have your Matura certificate/secondary school diploma at the time of registration, you can upload it on the registration page.
By when do I need to have my Matura certificate/secondary school diploma at the latest?
You will need to present your original Matura certificate/secondary school diploma when you come to the Admissions Office to enroll in your program.
Registration period
I forgot to register during the registration period. Can I still register?
No, it is unfortunately not possible to register after the deadline.
I had technical difficulties and could not register during the registration period. Can I register after the deadline?
No, it is unfortunately not possible to register after the deadline. If you are experiencing technical difficulties with the registration tool, please send an email to aufnahmeverfahren@wu.ac.at.

Paying the registration fee
Why do I have to pay a registration fee?
Your registration fee is used to cover a small part of the expenses that we incur as a result of the selection procedure. The selection procedure was developed to ensure that you only register for a WU bachelor's program if you intend to enroll. If you successfully complete the selection procedure and are admitted to the program, you will receive a welcome voucher worth the monetary value of the registration fee.
How can I pay the registration fee?
You can pay the registration fee by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club), eps online bank transfer, or online banking. You will find the bank details directly in the registration tool. If you have transferred the amount using online banking, it will take a few days until the payment is deposited into WU's account. You can check your payment status in the registration tool: A green check mark means that we have received your payment.
I have no credit card and no access to eps online transfer services. How can I pay the registration fee?
You can transfer the registration fee using online banking. You will find the bank details directly in the registration tool. If you have transferred the amount using online banking, it will take a few days until the payment is deposited into WU's account. The full amount needs to have been deposited into WU's account by the end of the registration period (May 22, 2023).
I'm having trouble with making the payment, who should I contact?

Can someone else pay the registration fee for me?
Yes, the bank details can be found in the registration tool.
Where do I find WU's bank account details?
The bank details can be found in the registration tool.
How long will it take for the green check mark to appear after I have made my payment?
If you pay your registration fee using eps online transfer service or by credit card, you will see the green check mark indicating that your payment was successful right away. If you have transferred the amount using online banking, you won't see the green check mark until the payment has been deposited in full into WU's account. Usually, this only takes a few days. The full amount needs to have been deposited into WU's account by the end of the registration period (May 22, 2023).
I'm interested in more than one bachelor's program at WU. Do I have to pay the registration fee for each program separately?
Yes, you have to pay the registration fee for each program separately, and then complete all the required steps for the selection procedure separately for each program as well.
Registration fee refunds
Is the registration fee refundable under certain circumstances?
No, the registration fee is non-refundable, without exception.
Online self-assessment (OSA) test
General information
What is the online self-assessment (OSA) test?
The OSA is intended to provide support in selecting an academic program. The objective is to give you a better idea of what to expect as a student at WU, and to compare your interests and expectations with the contents and demands of the program. This is a convenient way to determine if the program is the right choice for you.
When will I be notified about when I need to complete the online self-assessment test?
You will be notified by email whether you need to take the OSA (by June 01, 2023) or if you can enroll in your bachelor's program directly with no further requirements. If you do not receive the email, please write to aufnahmeverfahren@wu.ac.at.
Grading
Will the OSA be graded?
No, the results of the OSA have no impact on your admission to the program. They are visible only to you and are intended solely to give you feedback on your choice of programs.

Admission period
When can I enroll in my program?
Enrollment for the 2023/24 winter semester is open in the period from July 10, 2023, through September 05, 2023. Under certain conditions, it is possible to enroll during the extended admission period. For more information, please click here.

Where do I need to go to enroll and which documents do I need to bring?
Please come in person to the Study Service Center to enroll. The Study Service Center is located in the Library & Learning Center building on level 2. Please note the opening hours posted online. You can find all required documents in the Application Guide.
