Social Impact Research Cluster

Several organizational units of WU and npoAustria have joined forces to form the Social Impact Cluster. We conduct research and teaching on organizations focused on social impact and support them with economic and social science issues. Within the cluster, we regularly exchange information, develop joint research projects, organize professional development courses, and maintain contact with the academic community and practitioners.

Institute for Nonprofit Management and Governance

The Institute is part of the Department of Management at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. Its core activities include teaching and fundamental research on nonprofit organizations, their ecosystems, and individual as well as collective forms of civic engagement.
Center for Nonprofits and Social Impact

The Center for Nonprofits and Social Impact conducts applied research, support, and consulting on the activities and impacts of NPOs and organizations, focusing on societal value. The findings assist NPOs, their ecosystems, and the public sector in addressing social and economic challenges.
Competence Center for Social Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation

This Competence Center for Social Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation focuses on social enterprises, including their founding, organizational development, innovation processes, and the broader ecosystem in which they operate. Through research, capacity building, and the academic support of programs and interventions, it contributes to the continued development of the sector.
Research Institute for Cooperatives and Cooperation

The Research Institute for Cooperatives and Cooperation explores economic and societal challenges where cooperative organizations play a key role or offer innovative solutions. Its activities span basic research, applied research, and the transfer of knowledge into practice.
npoAustria – The Platform for Knowledge Transfer and Networking

The nonprofit association npoAustria promotes knowledge transfer between research and practice and supports networking among nonprofit organizations and researchers.This is achieved through events, capacity-building initiatives, project support, services and information resources, as well as science communication activities.
