Request for help: Approval of your research data

The WU publication database FIDES is being further developed. In an externally supported process, the database tool PURE was selected, which will be implemented at WU during the course of the year and which is to go live in May / June 2022.

In order to adapt the tool as best as possible to your needs and also to be able to test the system, we need data sets. The already existing data records from FIDES (publication data) and SAP (name, OE affiliation, third-party funded project data) would be best suited. However, we need a new company agreement to use the new tool, which will probably only be concluded next year. But since we want to start the implementation now, we were able to agree with the Academic Staff Council that we can use existing data if we get the permission of the individual researchers.

Therefore we now need your help: We ask you to allow us to import the already existing public data from FIDES as well as the mentioned SAP data into the new tool for test purposes. If you agree, please fill out this online form (takes less than a minute).

Info: DOI number

The DOI (Digital Object Identifier) number is a kind of permanent link to a publication and is assigned by the publisher after an article has been accepted and communicated to the author. Please do not enter the articles until you have received the DOI. Sometimes the DOI may take a few days to work. Since a link checker is built into the DOI field in FIDES, the article can only be entered and saved when the DOI number actually leads to your published article on the Internet.
Legal articles and some German-language journals that do not assign DOIs are an exception. Such contributions can of course also be entered. In these cases, please enter "n.a." (non-applicable) in the DOI field.

Info: Entering journals

More than 7000 scientific journals are stored in the FIDES master data, which can be selected when new publications are entered. However, it is possible that the list does not contain the journal you are looking for. In this case, please send a short email to the FIDES support team with the title of the journal and the ISSN number so that we can add the journal for you.

Info: Download of publication lists

FIDES offers you the option of downloading your publication lists in various formats. The formats BibTeX, RIS, CSV and PDF are available for selection. The corresponding download buttons can be found in the overview of your publications under "Export as". You can also download your list of research projects as an Excel or PDF file.

The formatting in PDF format cannot be changed. If you would like to format your publication list yourself, download the data in XLS format and then copy the desired entries, e.g. into a Word document.

Note: E-mail address for FIDES questions and suggestions

At the Research Service Center, the FIDES-team consisting of Daniela Weismeier-Sammer and Johanna Mendes can be contacted regarding FIDES via fides-support@wu.ac.at.

We would like to ask you to report any malfunctions, error messages or other problems that occur when working with FIDES (if possible, please add a screenshot). Every single error message is important for the improvement of FIDES and we thank you in advance for your help to improve FIDES steadily!
