What is EPOG+?

Economic POlicies for the Global transition (EPOG+) is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in economics, supported by the European Union. The two-year master’s programme aims at rethinking of economic approaches (e.g. growth and development) and reorientation towards long-term sustainability in the light of increasing social inequities, economic and ecological crises. Its concept relies on the fact that designing, implementing, and assessing economic policies for transition processes calls for experts with state-of-the-art knowledge and skills in specific fields, combined with a broader understanding of economic policy interdependencies. EPOG+ involves more than 40 partners and associate partners in Europe and the world with five main universities:

  • France: University of Technology of Compiègne (coordinator), Sorbonne University, University of Paris

  • Italy: University of Turin, University of Roma 3

  • Germany: Berlin School of Economics and Law

  • Austria: Vienna University of Economics and Business

  • South-Africa: University of the Witwatersrand

  • And more than 30 Associated Partners in the world

Studying EPOG+ at WU

The EPOG+ programme generally tries to offer each student their desired field of specialization, together with courses, seminars and activities related to the other Majors. If you successfully apply for EPOG+ and decide to choose Major C (development, sustainable development, and the ecological transition), you will be enrolled as degree-program students in WU’s MSc program Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy (SEEP). Therefore, you will be part of the SEEP cohort and curriculum during your time at WU. However, please note that some differences apply from other SEEP students because the third semester is in Paris and not at WU. Thus, only one out of the two semesters for the concentration areas are studied (i.e. only two of the six semester hours) and only one semester of the two relating to quantitative and qualitative methods. All the courses at WU will be delivered in English.
