Finding an accomodation is one of the most important steps of your transition to Vienna! We have collected the main options for students below.
Please note that these solutions are independent from WU. Therefore, WU do not have any influence on contracts or terms and conditions. Please make sure to familiarize yourself with the contract details before choosing an accomodation.
Private accomodation
Renting an apartment is a good option if you plan to stay in Vienna long term. Please note that that most apartments come unfurnished, so you’ll need to budget for that. You should also expect to pay a deposit of three months' rent. Rental agreements typically last for five years, and usually, you won’t be able to move out until at least a year after signing the contract. If you go this route, you’ll likely need to set up contracts for energy and internet services in your name as well.

Housing Anywhere

Student Housing
If you’d rather stay in student housing than rent a private apartment, we’ve put together a list of the main providers we collaborate with.
OeAD - Student Housing
Rooms start from €330 per month and are allocated by the OeAD student housing office on the first come, first served principle.
The minimum rental period for a room in a residency hall is a whole semester. In the winter semester, from October to the end of January. In the summer semester, from March to the end of June. It is possible to extend but not to shorten the rental period.
During the booking process, you have to upload a copy of your travel document (passport) and your Letter of Acceptance or a screenshot of your welcome email.
At the end of the application form, you need to accept OeAD student housing's general terms and conditions. Read them carefully as they contain information regarding rental period and cancelation policies.
When booking with OeAD student housing, additional costs apply for the application process, the deposit, the cleaning fee, and the booking fee.
After submitting your application, OeAD student housing will send you an offer of accommodation. If OeAD student housing cannot offer you a room, you will receive a full refund of the application fee.
As soon as you have received an offer of accommodation, you can confirm it by transferring the security deposit to the account indicated by OeAD student housing. Further details will be sent to you along with the offer. The deposit will be returned to you at the end of your stay minus a cleaning fee as well as any fees associated with damage to the room.
Only with a receipt of your deposit, your offer of accommodation will be fully confirmed. Usually, the offer is valid for two weeks. If you do not confirm within two weeks, the offer will expire.
If you plan to arrive two or three days early for enrollment, you can arrange this with OeAD student housing at an additional charge between €33 and €50 per day.

Vetheim student dormitories
The dormitories of the Veterinary Medicine University provide a variety of accommodation options for students. Check out their website for more details:

Depending on vacancies, moving in is possible in September/October and February/March.

ÖJAB offers barrier-free rooms, but not in all houses. You can write to housing@oejab.at and ask for a barrier-free room. ÖJAB will prioritize your request and will try to find a matching room.

Currently, CoLivi offers 400 rooms in Vienna
CoLivi is best suited for you if you are a responsible and independent student: there is no service included and you are expected to clean the common rooms when another person moves in or you move out. A key box can be found in front of all apartments/rooms.
Fully furnished rooms in shared apartments, which include bed linen, wifi, and more.
Flexible rental periods (starting from 3 months)
The contract can only be signed or canceled on the 1st or 15th of the month
The prices depend on room as well as location and range between €450 to €950

THE FIZZ
The student dormitory THE FIZZ is present in two locations in Vienna. In 20th district, Brigittenau, at a 15min. bicycle distance from WU and in the 10th district, near the Main Station at 20 min. distance from WU by public transportation. Check out both locations on the website:
