Enhancing research capabilities - An associate editor's perspective on publishing and reviewing at AMR

Abstract. Academy of Management Review (AMR) is one of the most influential and frequently cited management and business journals-typically ranked #1 or #2 in terms of scholarly impact. Professor Don Lange, an associate editor at AMR, will give an overview of the journal, talk about how to write conceptual papers for maximum clarity and contribution, discuss the peer review process (including tips on reviewing and interacting with reviewers), and provide other reflections from an associate editor's point of view. This will be an interactive presentation with plenty of opportunity for questions and answers.

Organizational identification

Abstract. The construct of organizational identification-meaning the degree to which an individual's own identity and his/her perceptions of the organization's identity are tied together or overlap-plays a central role in much of my research. In this presentation, I will step back in time to review how I got intrigued by this construct, I will describe how I've studied it empirically and developed it conceptually-especially in the context of CEOs and other organizational leaders, and I'll describe the next phase of my research-a conceptual look from the perspective of the actor who is being identified with.

Speaker. Don Lange is an Associate Professor of Management and the Lincoln Professor of Management Ethics at Arizona State University (ASU). Since graduating with his Ph.D. in Management from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006, he has been with ASU's W. P. Carey School of Business, where he teaches managerial ethics in the MBA program. His research interests include bad behavior within organizations, corporate social (ir)responsibility, and organizational reputation. His published work appears in top academic management journals including Academy of Management Review; Academy of Management Journal; Organization Science; Strategic Management Journal; and Personnel Psychology. He is currently an associate editor of Academy of Management Review, an International Research Fellow with the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation, the Program Chair for the Stakeholder Strategy Interest Group at the Strategic Management Society. Prior to joining academia, Professor Lange was in top management in the not-for-profit sector.
