The University Board acts as WU’s supervisory body. Its responsibilities are defined in § 21 of the Universities Act 2002, including the following (this is an exemplary list, and the various responsibilities are not ranked by importance):
Approving the Organizational Structure Plan and the Strategic Plan
Approving the budget proposed by the Rector’s Council and the draft Performance Agreement with the government.
Appointing the Rector and the Vice-Rectors
Concluding employment contracts and target agreements with the members of the Rector’s Council
Approving the establishment of new legal entities and foundations
Issuing comments on curricula and academic programs that are not covered by the Performance Agreement with the government
