Academic Staff Council

Report on the first strategy meeting of the newly elected council

wissBR

Once a year, the members of the Academic Staff Council meet for a one-day closed-door meeting. In February 2026, this took place for the first time after the election with many new staff council members. The main topic of discussion was the future working methods, but many new ideas for offers to employees were also discussed. The new council is very motivated to implement these ideas in the coming months and years.

If you have any ideas, requests, or concerns that you would like the Academic Staff Council to address, we would be happy to hear from you at wiss.betriebsrat@wu.ac.at or directly contact one of the staff council members.

Incidentally, staff council work is voluntary work that is not remunerated separately. Media reports on allowances for interest representation in the public sector may have raised questions about the remuneration of WU’s staff council members. We would therefore like to clarify that the WU staff council members are not covered by this new and much-discussed regulation. The members of the wissBR do not receive any allowances for their function as interest representatives.
