How does global business work?

Many companies operate on an international level. What does this mean for the way enterprises do business? What are the opportunities, what the challenges?

In the International Business Administration major, you’ll learn how global markets work, and you’ll develop an understanding of the international interdependencies of companies and the economy. By exploring different perspectives, you’ll recognize interconnections and dependencies. In this way, you’ll be developing precisely the kind of profile that international positions require.

International and intercultural perspectives
In a global economy, foreign language skills are essential. In the International Business Administration major, you can deepen your foreign language proficiency in French, Italian, Spanish, or Russian. Thanks to its broad scope, this major offers you a wide range of possibilities. You gain international experience and you have the opportunity to complete international exchange programs, e.g. a semester abroad, International Short Programs (ISPs), or online initiatives.  In this major, you also have the exclusive opportunity to earn credit for an international internship.

Custom-tailor your main program phase

In your major, you can customize your degree program by choosing a specialization worth 20 ECTS and free electives worth a total of 10 ECTS.

In the course of your studies, you also complete the subject International Experience, worth 20 ECTS. You’re free to choose and customize the type of international experience you’d like to go for. You can for example complete a semester abroad or combine different formats (e.g. an international internship and an International Short Program).

Specializations

Specializations allow you to dive deeper into a specific subject area. A specialization consists of several courses focusing on the 

respective topic. In this way, our specializations prepare you optimally for your future career or field of research.

International Experience

The following options are available for earning the ECTS required for the subject International Experience.

  • A semester abroad

  • International Short Programs (ISPs) or other short academic programs

  • (Online) courses offered as part of WU’s international networks (e.g. ENGAGE.EU)

  • An international internship with a duration of at least eight weeks

Please note that the content of the activities must be related to business and economics and that the activities must be completed outside of your home country. 
This does not apply to (online) courses offered as part of WU’s international networks (e.g. ENGAGE.EU).

Please note that you have to complete the Cross-Cultural Competence course (3 ECTS) if you choose the Courses Abroad subject.

Free electives

Are you interested in topics that go beyond business and economics? As part your free electives, you can take courses in any subject area you like. This allows you to custom-tailor your studies even more, following your personal interests.
