Academic Staff Council

Architectural tour of the Austrian Parliament

Parlament

At the beginning of this year, the Austrian Parliament building has reopened after several years of restoration. Since the reopening, guided tours of the building have been in great demand. The two Staff Councils at WU took this as an opportunity to organize several joint group tours for WU employees. The first of these tours took place on September, 14th. During this tour, we were able to visit, among other things, the Hall of Pillars, the atrium, the conference room of the Bundesrat and the historic House of Representatives Chamber and received a lot of information about the past and present of these rooms. A brief look into the National Council Chamber was also possible. Interesting details about modern works of art, which were installed in the course of the restoration, completed the guided tour. The beautifully renovated building was absolutely worth seeing and the guided tour was entertaining and informative. After the official part of the tour ended, many participants took the opportunity to view the newly covered dome of the National Council Chamber from the visitors' gallery.

Due to the high demand for spots on the tours announced in early July, we have organized an additional tour on November, 2nd at 4pm. These spots were first offered to the people on the waiting list for the other two dates. Some spots are still available, though. If you are interested (guided tour will be in German!), please contact us directly at kulturundsport@wu.ac.at. We will allocate spots as your message is received.
