The MTC is the very last course of our curriculum. Students present their (almost) completed theses in a conference-style setting – discussing their results with fellow students and professors.
Usually, the “conferences” are taking place in January, March, June and October. In June and October two parallel courses are combined to a shared event.
Each course consists of a short preparatory session and a two-day block one week later.

Who can participate?

Students presenting at the Master's Thesis Conference have a supervisor, their research questions is clearly defined and the literature research is largely complete.

The main results of the analysis have already been obtained:
- For an empirical project: The central results of the estimations already exist and are ready for presentation.
- For a theoretical project: The analysis of the main model is already largely completed.
- For a survey of existing literature: The analysis of the main body of the literature is already complete and the student has drawn her/his own conclusions.

The written text need not be finished yet. Revisions and extensions of the analysis are still possible.

Teaching mode

The first session of the course (preparatory session) usually takes place online. The “conference” itself takes place on-campus. Under specific circumstances (eg, student does no longer live in Austria) it is possible to participate online.

Re-registration

In your last semester, you only have to re-register if your last grades (including master’s thesis) are entered in LPIS after March 31/October 31.

In case the grades are entered before that date, you do not have to re-register.

Usually, there will be a Master’s Thesis Conference taking place in mid-March/mid-October such that the course can be completed before the deadline.

Please take into account that once you submitted your master’s thesis via LEARN your supervisor has two months to grade it.
