WU Journal Ratings & Performance Bonus
WU’s performance bonuses for academic staff are regulated by the Operational Agreement on Performance Bonuses and Examination Rates for Academic Staff (Operational Agreement on Performance Bonuses and Examination Rates for Academic Staff) that was negotiated with the Academic Staff Council and entered into effect on January 1, 2016. Sections 2 and 4 of this operational agreement specify new regulations for performance bonuses and name two types of bonuses: (a) bonuses for Star journal publications (§ 2) and (b) bonuses for outstanding research achievements specific to individual organizational units (§ 4). These two types of bonuses have replaced the earlier performance bonus system for academic staff that was based on the 2009 WU Journal Rating. WU has also issued detailed guidelines (in German) on how the provisions of the operational agreement are to be implemented.

Department-specific journal rankings
In addition to the WU Star journal list, every department has its own department-specific journal ranking that serves as the basis for awarding performance bonuses for journal articles pursuant to the operational agreement. The departments’ individual rankings and directives on performance bonuses are available on FIDES . Please use the forms in the following links for special applications like e.g. bonuses based on the old rating (application form old rating,in German) or applications for former WU employees or proceedings/textbooks (Star journal list form).
