Gerhard Speckbacher wins ACA Prize in Financial Governance

The University of St. Gallen honors Prof. Gerhard Speckbacher, WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business), with the 2020 ACA Prize in Financial Governance, awarded by the Institute of Accounting, Control and Auditing.

Gerhard Speckbacher receives this award for his fundamental and application-oriented contributions to strategic management systems and control research, which are highly regarded internationally. Since the year 2000, the award winner has been a professor of management at WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business), where he also chairs the Department of Strategy and Innovation.

In their laudatory speech, the award jury, chaired by Prof. Ann-Kristin Achleitner (TU Munich), praised Gerhard Speckbacher as one of the leading international researchers working on performance management and the control of creative and innovation processes in companies. His contributions on the balanced scorecard are among the most-cited papers in the field of management control worldwide.

This year marks the fourth time that the University of St. Gallen has awarded the ACA Prize in Financial Governance in recognition of outstanding academic achievements in the fields of accounting, control, corporate finance, and auditing. The prize is one of the most substantial awards in the German-speaking region.
