01/10/2021

To honor excellent university teachers for their achievements, the Ars docendi award was established in 2013.

To highlight the importance of teaching in the science system and to make excellent achievements in teaching even more visible, the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research has been awarding the Ars Docendi State Prize for Excellent Teaching since 2013. The State Prize is awarded annually in various categories in cooperation with the Austrian University Conference, the Conference of Universities of Applied Sciences, the Austrian Conference of Private Universities, the Rectors' Conference of Austrian Universities of Teacher Education and the Austrian National Union of Students and is endowed with € 35,000. An international jury of experts selects a prize winner in each category from the nominations submitted by higher education institutions and student representatives; teams of teachers can also be awarded prizes.

In 2021, Michaela Nettekoven, Maria Krakovsky and Lukas Kowarsch won in the category "Digital Transformation in Teaching".
