WU Master’s in International Management places 18th in Financial Times ranking

WU Vienna University of Economics and Business has once again improved its position in the latest ranking published by the renowned Financial Times.

The English-taught Master’s Program in International Management/CEMS is ranked 18th out of the 100 programs listed in 2025. This means that WU remains the only Austrian university included in the ranking and number two in the German-speaking world behind the University of St. Gallen (ranked 1st).

The annual FT Masters in Management Ranking is one of the most important international university rankings. Only internationally renowned management programs are included. The ranking is based on a total of 19 criteria, grouped into three main areas: alumni career success, internationality and diversity, and international experience and sustainability.  Of the data used, 44% are provided by the universities themselves and 56% come from alumni who graduated three years ago.

Fast career entry and high pay for WU graduates

The International Management/CEMS master’s degree program is characterized by study-abroad opportunities at leading partner universities, international internships, and close cooperation with companies operating on a global scale. The ranking results confirm the high quality of the program: 95% of program graduates find employment within three months of graduation. They earn above-average salaries and rate their overall study experience very positively. WU has earned particularly high scores for alumni satisfaction and the internationality of the program.

A strong sign of quality and future potential

“The fact that WU is able to hold its own so successfully among leading international universities is a clear indicator of the high quality of our program. The ranking confirms that the education we offer our students gives them excellent career opportunities and a strong international perspective. For us at WU, this is an important sign that we’re on the right track, and a strong motivation to keep pushing forward,” says WU Rector Rupert Sausgruber.

Coming in at 18th place, WU is tied with France’s SKEMA Business School and ahead of prestigious universities such as WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management (22nd), Warwick Business School (40th) from the UK, and Munich’s TUM School of Management (54th). The top three places in the 2025 ranking remain unchanged from last year. The University of St. Gallen takes the top spot, followed by HEC Paris and INSEAD (also located in France).
