Teaching Skills Certificate | Basic

The WU Teaching Skills Certificate – Basic is designed for Praedocs and fulfills the mandatory pedagogical and didactic training requirements stipulated in the collective agreement (KV § 49(7)). The program focuses on developing the fundamental teaching competencies needed for an effective start in university teaching. At the same time, participants reflect on and develop their professional identity in their new role as university instructors.

Across nine in-person modules, participants gradually design their own course concept, which they can directly apply and further develop in their teaching practice. The program concludes with a poster presentation of this course concept. Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate documenting the higher education teaching competencies they have acquired. The certificate serves as formal evidence of their pedagogical and didactic qualification and can be used to support future academic applications and career development.

The overall workload amounts to approximately 39 hours, including 30 hours of in-person sessions and 9 hours of independent study devoted to finalizing the course concept and preparing for the module Designing Digital Teaching.

Schedule Overview (Mandatory Modules)

The required modules must be completed within one year. Participants must begin with the introductory module, and the program concludes with the final presentation. The required modules in between may be taken and completed in any order.

The modules are offered by PMTL Teaching and Learning Development, PMTL Digital Teaching Services, and Personnel Development. Registration for these modules is handled centrally via this form.

The elective module may be chosen freely from the options listed below and can be completed independently of the mandatory modules. To register, please use the links provided below.
