Microphones

Two types of microphones are available for the teaching rooms:

Wireless Microphones

Wireless microphone

  • For certain teaching rooms, you can borrow wireless microphones from the IT Service Desk in the Teaching Center (map) to amplify the sound:

    • Headset with a bodypack transmitter or

    • Handheld microphone

  • For lecture recordings and lecture streaming (Microsoft Teams/Zoom), only bodypack transmitters with headset microphones are provided. These ensure optimal audio quality.

  • The Teacher Training Room is equipped with special, high-quality ceiling microphones installed in the lecture area. Therefore, no wireless microphone is required there.

  • Only one microphone can be used per room, except for lecture halls H120, H170, H180, and H650 (Audimax). In those rooms, multiple microphones can be used simultaneously.

  • The sound output is via the speakers installed in the room. These do not need to be activated separately (however, it must be ensured that they are not muted on the PC).

Ceiling Microphones

  • Ceiling microphones are installed in all seminar rooms 30 as well as in lecture halls 60/60U in the Teaching Center (TC). These rooms are therefore suitable for conducting hybrid courses.

  • The ceiling microphones allow online participants in MS Teams/Zoom to hear students’ comments and questions from the teaching room. Please refer to the “Quickguide to Online Meetings” available in the room and select the correct audio input device (Microphone Realtek(R) Audio) if necessary.

  • To ensure the best sound quality for MS Teams/Zoom participants, we recommend using the room-specific headset microphone for presenters (available for loan at the IT Service Desk) despite the presence of ceiling microphones.

  • Muting the microphone in MS Teams/Zoom mutes both microphones (the presenter’s microphone and the ceiling microphones).

  • The sound output from online participants (e.g., guest lecturers via MS Teams/Zoom) is played through the speakers installed in the room. These do not need to be activated separately (however, it must be ensured that they are not muted on the PC).
