WU places 22nd in Financial Times ranking again this year

01/10/2014

In the annual ranking of the world’s best degree programs in management, WU has again secured a place among the top 25 out of a total of 70 institutions ranked this year.

With its International Business Administration (IBW) program, WU remains number 22 in this year’s Global Masters in Management Ranking, issued by the well-known business newspaper Financial Times. This result puts WU in the same league as renowned schools like Mannheim Business School or the Stockholm School of Economics. “We are very pleased with this result. It shows strong continuity, and it also shows that WU represents Austria well in the international higher education landscape and is globally competitive with regard to the quality of its programs,” says Rector Christoph Badelt.

Globally competitive education

As last year, first place in the 2014 FT ranking goes to Switzerland’s University of St. Gallen, followed by HEC Paris. The European CEMS program (The Global Alliance in Management Education), available in Austria exclusively at WU, comes in at 5th place on this year’s list, up two notches from the year before. “Our graduates are highly qualified and have a strong position in the job market, both nationally and internationally,” says Barbara Sporn, Vice-Rector for Research, International Affairs and External Relations.

Data from alumni surveys

As in previous years, the 2014 FT ranking is again based on 16 differently weighted criteria in three categories: alumni career progress, diversity (percentages of female and international students and personnel), and international exposure and research. The ranking uses data from an alumni survey and figures provided by the schools.
