Teacher Exchange: Ingrid Dobrovits at Nottingham Trent University

Ingrid Dobrovits from the Institute for Business Education teaches “Sustainable Business Planning” at Nottingham Trent University

In May 2026, I had the opportunity to teach at our partner university, Nottingham Trent University (Business School), as part of Global Responsibility Week. My workshop, “Sustainable Business Planning,” was very well attended, with more than 40 domestic and international students. Working in rotating small groups, we explored together how even small startups can make an effective contribution to greater sustainability.

Nottingham Trent University is a very modern university in the heart of Nottingham, a diverse and vibrant British city characterized above all by its large student population.

The British hosts gave me and the other visiting faculty members a very warm welcome. Between our classes, we were treated to plenty of tea and delicious cookies, and in the evenings, a visit or two to the pub in international company was a must.

The week concluded with the Global Responsibility Week Assembly. The focus of this event was on direct dialog between representatives from business, academia, politics, city administration, and students. Together, we discussed how to shape a sustainable future for the city of Nottingham. For me, this was an inspiring and successful conclusion to an all-around enriching exchange week.

Thanks also to the WU International Office, which guided and supported me through the bureaucratic details of this exchange.
