WU Vienna University of Economics and Business has once again reinforced its position among the world’s leading business schools. In the QS Business Master’s Rankings 2027, all five WU master’s programs included in the ranking placed among the top 30 worldwide in their respective categories. The WU Master’s Program in Supply Chain Management ranked fifth out of 142 programs, once again placing it among the very best globally. The Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects also lists WU as Austria’s highest-ranked university in several disciplines. 

All five WU master’s programs assessed by QS achieved top-30 placements. Alongside the Master’s Program in Supply Chain Management, WU’s MSc programs in Marketing, Strategy, Innovation and Management Control, Quantitative Finance, and Digital Economy all rank among the top 30 in their respective categories. The Digital Economy program entered the ranking for the first time and immediately secured a place in the top 30. 

WU also makes a strong showing in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. In Business Administration, Economics, and Finance, it is the highest-ranked Austrian university, placing in the 76–100 and 101–150 bands worldwide. In Management, WU ranks in the 201–300 range globally, which puts it in the top bracket of Austria’s leading institutions in the field. 

A broader field of international competitors 

“Our master’s programs combine academic excellence with a clear international orientation, and this formula allows them to compete successfully on the global stage. The fact that all five ranked programs are among the top 30 worldwide in the QS rankings underscores the strength of WU’s master’s portfolio. At the same time, the Shanghai Ranking demonstrates WU’s international visibility across the central disciplines of the economic and social sciences,” says WU Rector Rupert Sausgruber. The results of the QS Business Master’s Rankings come against the backdrop of a substantially expanded ranking field. In four of the five categories, the number of ranked programs increased by around 20 to 40 compared with the previous year; in the Marketing category, nearly 50 additional programs were included. Despite the broader field of competitors, WU’s Master’s Program in Marketing nearly held its position, while the Master’s Program in Strategy, Innovation and Management Control improved by one place. The Master’s Program in Supply Chain Management remains one of the world’s top five programs of its kind.
