The media landscape has experienced profound changes and particularly the emergence of online communication channels has led to new options for institutional actors to exert pressures. There is anecdotal evidence of the influence of Twitter statements on firms, yet, more research is needed to examine this effect theoretically and empirically. In her dissertation, Anita focused on social media statements by powerful public individuals about firms and explored whether and how these statements bear consequences for firms and investigated related boundary conditions.
