Application for Master's Students

Current enrollment in a WU Master's program

Step 1: Complete the application form (will be available on the ISP website) during the application period

Step 2: Indicate your program preferences. Depending on the course offer, you may choose multiple partner university programs (with nomination), as well as the International Summer University WU (only applicable in summer). However, you can also select just one program preference. Please keep in mind that if you are selected, you will only be offered a spot in one program.

Step 3: Upload your application documents (CV, current WU transcript, supporting documents).

Step 4: Submit your application before the deadline.

The following documents have to be submitted during the online application process:

• CV in English

• Current transcript of records (Sammelzeugnis) from your Master’s program

• Supporting documents if deemed necessary

For Master's students, there will be no interviews. Selection will be based solely on the written application. Students will be selected based on the following criteria:

• Overall quality and completeness of the application

• Motivation and interest in gaining academic experience abroad

• Alignment of program preferences with academic and career goals

• Relevance of the exchange experience to the student’s current master’s program

• Realistic expectations about the exchange experience

• Please note: During the selection process, priority will be given to students who have not completed an exchange semester during their master studies and who are not nominated to participate in an exchange semester.

• If applicants have the same total scores, the exchange place will be randomly assigned.

• Cancellation of an allocated place on International Short Programs is allowed solely in exceptional and unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to serious illness or injury, the serious illness or loss of a close family member, pregnancy, unexpected caregiving duties, as well as emergencies in the host country, such as pandemics, political unrest, or natural disasters. Such cancellations must be approved by the International Office, which will evaluate each case individually and request supporting documentation if necessary. If you encounter such circumstances, please contact the WU International Short Programs Team (spwu@wu.ac.at) without delay.

• Please note that withdrawal without a valid reason will result in a ban from all International Office programs for the duration of your current study cycle, including the WU study abroad semester, WU International Short Programs, partner university short programs with WU nomination, ENGAGE EU Winter and Summer Schools, ENGAGE.EU Joint Program in Digital Transformation, and internship funding.

• The ban does not apply to mobility programs organized independently by students, such as exchange semesters without WU nomination (freemover exchanges), short programs without WU nomination, and internships abroad. Also excluded from the ban are the online courses offered by ENGAGE EU.
