Please be aware that not all courses of a specialization are necessarily offered in both summer and winter semesters. Some courses might only be offered in the winter semester while others might be offered solely in the summer semester.

Once you have completed 54 ECTS credits

• 42 ECTS credits of the core courses, excluding courses in the field of Academics Skills ("Introduction to Academic Writing" and "Logic and Methodology of Social Scienes")

PLUS

• 12 ECTS of the introductory courses

which will most likely be the case at the end of semester 2/ semester 3.

• Which specializations can I complete according to my study plan?

• How many registration options do I have?

• Find out about the dates and deadlines.

• Please plan a minimum of two semesters for completing a specialization.

• Check the course dates for your desired specializations to avoid scheduling conflicts.

• Check your WU account regularly for notifications throughout the admission process (approx. 3 weeks).

Before you can participate in the selection procedure for any specialization, you are required to register for the “Access to Specialization “ (ET).You can register on MyWU by selecting the specializations you wish to apply for. Please see the online course catalog for detailed information on the selection procedures of the specializations. 

Important: Students in the Business and Economics bachelor’s program can register for up to four Access to Specialization courses to enhance the chance of acceptance into a specialization. However, every specialization you have started or completed reduces this number by 1. It is possible to deregister from an Access to Specialization course only during the indicated deregistration period.  

Students who successfully complete the selection procedure, i.e. complete the Access to Specialization course with a passing grade, can then sign up for the courses in each specialization using LPIS. The drop-down list of specializations in LPIS will show you the specialization selection procedures that you have successfully completed.

Your results can be viewed in LPIS in your grades list:

• "Successfully completed": you must register for a course during the first registration phase (Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to Sunday 11:59 p.m.). Otherwise, you will lose your eligibility for the specialization and the next student on the waiting list will be nominated. Important note: a registration on the waiting list of a course is not an active registration; therefore, you will lose your place if you do not have a confirmed registration.

• "Not completed": you did not achieve the required minimum of 40% in the entrance test/admission procedure and are excluded from the respective specialization for this semester.

• "Void": you did not take the entrance test or did not submit your application documents on time or in full, so you are excluded from the respective specialization for this semester.

• No assessment: You are on the waiting list and may be nominated later if other students do not take up their place or withdraw within the deadline.  

No ECTS credits are earned for Access to Specialization courses and they will not appear on your transcript.

After you have successfully completed the selection procedure, i.e. completed the Access to Specialization course with a passing grade ("successfully completed"), you can then sign up for the courses in each specialization using LPIS. The drop-down list of specializations in LPIS will show you the specialization selection procedures that you have successfully completed.

If you have been admitted to a specialization but cannot attend it for some reason, please contact the institute responsible for the specialization immediately, so that they can assign your place to another student.

Important information:

• Please note that admission to specializations that start every semester is valid for one semester only. You must register for and complete at least one course* in your chosen specialization in the semester that you were admitted otherwise you will lose your spot. Therefore, carefully read the specializations' course structures and check their course registration deadlines. This only applies to specializations that start every semester.

• A place on the waiting list is NOT a course registration. If you do not sign up for a course of your chosen specialization on time within the registration period, you will lose your place after expiration of the registration period and will not be allowed to attend the specialization.

• Once the courses have already started, it is no longer possible to withdraw from the specialization. If no perfomance component (quizz, mid-term, homework, paper etc.) has been submitted , no assessment will take place and your eligibility for the specialization will be automatically revoked at the end of the semester.
