If you are in your last year of school, you can register for the selection procedure even if you have not yet received your secondary school leaving certificate. You will have to show your secondary school leaving certificate only at the time of admission, starting in July.

First, you must complete your registration for the selection procedure by May 22, 2023:

• Fill in your data in the online registration tool (starting March 1, 2023)

• Pay the € 50 registration fee

Information on paying the registration fee:

• Payment is possible by telebanking, eps online bank transfer or by credit card (Visa / Mastercard / American Express / Diners Club).

• The registration fee must be in WU’s account by May 22, 2023. If you pay the fee shortly before the deadline, we strongly recommend paying by credit card or eps online bank transfer.

• The account information is provided in the online registration tool.

• Please check the registration tool a few days after you paid the registration fee to ensure that your payment has gone through (green checkmark).

• The registration fee is non-refundable even if you fail the selection procedure, if your application is rejected, or if you cancel your enrolment.

Please note: It is possible but not required to fulfill step 1 of the selection procedure (Online-Self-Assessment and your statement of your motivation) already at the time of registration. See step 1 of the selection procedure.

There are special regulations for applicants with a physical or a mental disability.

If the number of applicants who complete the online registration form during the registration period exceeds the number of places available in the program, the selection procedure will take place. See step 1 of the selection procedure.

If there are fewer applicants than available places, the selection procedure will not go forward. In this case, you can enroll in the program starting on July 10, 2023. Please note that you still have to meet all formal admission requirements and that your documents have to get checked by the Admissions Team first.

Online-Self-Assessment (OSA)

Please find your personal access link to the OSA in the registration tool. Access to the OSA is only possible by clicking on your personal link.

• The OSA is a required part of the selection procedure.

• You have to complete the OSA by June 1, 2023.

• The OSA will not be graded. It is intended to give you a realistic impression of the content of the program and of how the program is organized. It includes questions about your motivation, expectations, and interests. It also offers exercises that test essential skills required for the program, e.g. logical thinking, language skills, and mathematics.

• Once you have completed the OSA, you will receive online feedback so that you can see if your skills and expectations match with the nature and requirements of the program.

Important note: The OSA is solely intended to help you make an informed decision when choosing your Bachelor's program and therefore will not be graded.

Motivation statement

You need to answer three specific questions concerning your motivation in the online registration tool by June 1, 2023.

Formal guidelines for the motivation statement:

• You must answer all three questions

• Your answers must be written in English

• Your motivation statement has to be between 1,000 and 1,500 characters without spaces. Motivation statements shorter than 1,000 characters or longer than 1,500 will not be accepted.

• The number of characters allowed for each section is indicated and may not be exceeded. Please stick to the defined amount of characters when answering the questions.The submission form will alert you if you have exceeded the maximum number of characters so that you can shorten your text.

• Before sending your answers, make sure they are free of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

Please note that only complete submissions will be accepted. You will no longer be able to change or edit your submission after sending, but it is possible to save a draft of individual answers. It may take up to four weeks to review your motivation statement. The clock in the registration tool shows that you have submitted your motivation statement but that it still is under review. As soon as your motivation statement has been checked and is fine, the clock will turn into a green checkmark.

Save the Date: Mock Exams

The following mock exams are not mandatory. However, we strongly recommend that you participate in them in order to identify technical problems early and resolve them before the exam. Find out more details.

If you experience problems during the exam, but did not take any of the mock exams, you will be queued to the back of the line for problem solving on the day of the exam. For resource and technical reasons, you should not expect the problem to be resolved in a timely manner in this case.
 

Exam material

The written online exam contains multiple choice questions only and includes questions to test your knowledge and skills in the following three areas:

1. English language skills

We will test your ...

• correct use of English grammar

• familiarity with the vocabulary of written English

• understanding the content of English texts that deal with topics related to business, economics, and English-speaking countries

2. Independent literature study: Elementary economics and business knowledge

The chapters 1 to 6 are required reading to prepare for the entrance exam:

You will have to answer questions that test your knowledge and comprehension of the relevant content.

3. Math skills

We will test your knowledge of the following areas

• Elementary algebra

• Elementary financial mathematics

• Linear equations and simple nonlinear equations (in particular exponential equations) in one unknown

• Linear equations in two unknowns

• Linear and quadratic functions

• Power functions

• Polynomial functions

• Exponential and logarithmic functions

• Differentiation

• Single-variable optimization

• Elementary probability calculus

• Binomial distribution

• Gaussian distribution

The level of the problems posed will be comparable to the "Standardised Competence-Oriented Written School-Leaving Examination" which is currently in place for Austrian high school students.

Please note: Calculators, formula sheets, notepaper, sticky notes, and pens are not permitted. All of these functions are integrated in WISEflow. Do not use any other items than your exam device during the exam. Anyone caught using unauthorized aids or cheating in any way will be excluded from the selection procedure.
