WU Hosts Conf-IRM 2012: New Standards in Sustainable IT

The International Conference on Information Resources Management's first European venue will be WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, where Conf-IRM will be taking place from May 21 to May 23, 2012. Conference Co-Chairs are WU's Edward Bernroider and G. Harindranath from Royal Holloway, University of London (UK). The patronage was taken over by the mayor of Vienna, Michael Häupl, and Brigitte Jank, President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The International Conference on Information Resources Management (Conf-IRM) is affiliated with the internationally renowned Association for Information Systems (AIS). Since the first conference in Ontario, Canada, in 2008, Conf-IRM venues have included Al Ain (United Arab Emirates), Montego Bay (Jamaica), and Seoul (South Korea).
This year's theme, "Information Systems and Accountability in a Digital World", emphasizes IT's increasingly important role in supporting people, organizations, and society. In addition to economic goals such as reducing time, effort, and quality, the conference will also focus on aspects such as transparency and environmental sustainability.

Program and Workshops on IT's Responsibility in a Digital World

With talks, poster presentations and workshops, researchers from all over the world will present their peer-reviewed contributions. On day 1, workshops are held to provide input for junior researchers and members of the business community. Days 2 and 3 feature top-class key-note lectures offering both scientific and practical insights. The focal points are of a fundamental significance for sustainability and future prospects: What are the major developments in IT services and the global IT market? What will be the key questions for IT managers in the next few years? What contributions can researchers make to the business community and which impulses can they provide for research and teaching? The program is divided into 15 areas in order to encourage lecturers to showcase their excellence in their respective research fields. The tracks "E-Commerce, M-Commerce & Social Networking" and "Green IS/IT Strategies & Technologies" scored the most submissions. The highest numbers of contributions come from Australia, Brazil, Germany, and the USA. With 13 submissions, the host country Austria is very well represented at Conf-IRM 2012.

"Conf-IRM 2012 - International Conference on Information Resources Management" will take place at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business from June 21 to June 23, 2012.
