Introduction to classroom and media technology
Are you teaching for the first time in a lecture hall or seminar room on the WU campus and would like to familiarize yourself with the room controls and available presentation technology? Would you like to get to know the rooms and media technology available at WU for the production of teaching videos?
In addition to a wide range of self-study options, we also offer on-site introductions upon request - for individuals or groups.
Room control and presentation technology in the teaching room
Worth knowing
Thanks to the high level of standardization at WU, the use of classroom technology is similar in all classrooms. Certain elements of the classroom technology are the same in all classroom categories (e.g. dual projection, instructor's PC and monitor with interactive pen, connection to web conferencing tools, lighting control, etc.). Smaller classrooms (HS 60, Seminarraum 30) differ from larger classrooms (Audimax, HS 180, HS 120) in the presence of a SMART Board (interactive whiteboard) and room control via a keypad instead of a touch display. Selected classrooms have a built-in lecture recording system or tracking cameras for the implementation of hybrid teaching. An overview of all classroom categories can be found here.

Do you need an on-site introduction to classroom technology?
We offer introductions to classroom technology on request - also for groups. We can cover the basics as well as more specific application scenarios:

Interactive Whiteboard (SMART Board) in the classroom
Worth knowing
A SMART Board® (interactive whiteboard) is available in every seminar room (30) at WU. It can be used as a blackboard or whiteboard replacement and helps you to make your classes more dynamic. The SMART Board® has a touch-sensitive surface and can be operated with a finger or a SMART Pen. You can use it in the following scenarios:
Extend the screen: Navigate through programs, presentations and Web pages directly on the SMART Board and add handwritten annotations as needed.
Writing and drawing: The resulting pages, or "board images," can be saved in a variety of formats and reused (e.g., in the next lesson).
Insert graphics, video and web page content: Use the built-in capture feature or simple copy and paste to bring content directly to the digital whiteboard for editing.
Integrate interactive elements and exercises: Actions such as match, reveal, and move can be used to create different scenarios that allow for dynamic and interactive work.

Media technology in the FLEX Media Studios
Worth knowing
With the FLEX Media Studios, the Future Learning Experience Center (FLEX) offers the opportunity to produce high-quality audiovisual media easily and without prior technical knowledge.
There are two recording areas in the FLEX Video Studio: one with a green screen and one with a lightboard (a glass board you can write on while looking into the camera). Touch panels allow you to select presets and control the recording. Lecture videos, interview situations, and explanation videos can be realized with the available equipment without technical support. The FLEX Audio Studio can be used to produce audio formats such as podcasts and professionally dub instructional videos.
