WU-Researcher of the Month - Josef Zechner, Professor für Finance and Investments

The title "Researcher of the Month" is awarded every month as a special recognition and appreciation of the research achievements of the distinguished person.

As our March Researcher of the Month, Josef Zechner tells us which disadvantages debt-based financing can have for companies and why tax breaks for corporate debt might not be such a great idea after all. Originally hailing from Styria, Josef Zechner has pursued various research interests, focusing primarily on corporate finance and asset management. The depth and scope of his work in these fields has earned him wide recognition in the international research community. He was appointed president of the German Finance Association and the European Finance Association, and he was the first European to become president of the Western Finance Association. Josef Zechner also holds an honorary doctorate from LMU Munich and is a full member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. In addition to his teaching and research activities at WU, he also acts as an advisor to various institutions and serves as a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the asset management firm Spängler IQAM Invest.
