Teaching and Research Associate at the Institute for Information Management and Control

The Institute for Information Management and Control is currently inviting applications for a 30 hours/week Teaching and Research Associate position (pre-doc, employee subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff - Angestellte/r gemäß Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten; minimum gross monthly salary, paid 14 times per year: Euro 2,022.38, recognition of previous employment - if relevant to the advertised position - possible). This employee position will be limited to a period of 6 years, starting on January 9th, 2017 (commencement date subject to change).


Please note that under the terms of the WU personnel development plan, the position of Teaching and Research Associate is limited to an employment period of not more than six years. Applicants who are already employed at WU as substitute employees can therefore only be employed for the time remaining to complete the six-year period. Persons who have already been employed at WU in a Teaching and Research Associate position can only be re-employed in an Assistant Professor, tenure track position.


Responsibilities:


The successful candidate will be
- pursuing an active program of academic research, which should lead to a doctorate degree at WU (usually in about 3-4 years) and a first scientific track record in terms of journal and conference publications;
- thereby supporting current research projects in the team of scholars around Prof. Edward Bernroider in the area of Information Management and Control with a special focus on how IT affects organizations;
- engaging in teaching (about 2 hours per week in the areas of IT project management and/or IT service management), exam invigilation and marking, bachelor thesis advising; and
- supporting administrative work and serving the profession (e.g. co-organizing events in collaboration with industry practice).


Candidates not fluent in German are expected to learn German within two years. We offer flexible working hours, and a pleasant and friendly working atmosphere.


Your Profile:


The candidates must
- have a competitive university degree (master or an equivalent with very good grades) in information systems, business administration (with at least one IT related major), informatics, computer science or related disciplines
- have a demonstrated interest in pursuing the above research and teaching activities
- be highly proficient in spoken and written English
- possess very good communication skills
- be effective in independently organizing and structuring tasks
- possess a strong analytical mind and skills in mathematics/statistics
- and have experience in working with statistical software.


Special consideration will be given to candidates with teaching or industry experience spanning both technical domains and consulting/managerial areas in relation to Information Management and Control. An international orientation, professional certifications recognized by industry, or an early track record of publications or conference presentations are further advantages.
