E&I welcomes new Fullbright-Hall Professor for Entrepreneurship

The E&I Institute is honored to welcome Prof. Julie Elston, the Fulbright-Kathryn and Craig Hall Distinguished Chair for Entrepreneurship at WU for the Summer Term 2022.

The E&I Institute is honored to welcome Prof. Julie Elston, the Fulbright-Kathryn and Craig Hall Distinguished Chair for Entrepreneurship at WU for the Summer Term 2022.

Julie Ann Elston is a professor of business and an adjunct professor of agricultural and resource economics at Oregon State University. She has published numerous scholarly articles, papers and a book in the fields of financial economics, international business, and entrepreneurship. In 2008 she was selected as a Fulbright Scholar to study the impact of science on policy formation in the European Union, and in 2012 as well as 2019 was named the Fulbright Hall Distinguished Chair of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at WU Wien.

As a regular contributor to the field of entrepreneurship, Dr. Elston serves as an associate editor of Small Business Economics: An Entrepreneurship Journal and The Journal of Global Entrepreneurship. She has served as a consultant to a number of international governmental agencies, organizations and firms including: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Deutsche Bundesbank (German Central Bank), and the U.S. National Academies of Science, Board on Science, Technology, and Economic Policy.

Dr. Elston graduated from the University of Washington's Department of Economics, and has since held academic positions at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin in Germany, the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, and the California Institute of Technology. She was selected as a policy fellow in theRobert Bosch Foundation Scholars Programin Comparative Public Policy; and served as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Economics in Jena.

During her term at the E&I institute, Prof. Elston will teach a course for Ph.D. students as well as an undergraduate course on international entrepreneuership.
