EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

For most people – and perhaps for you too! - traveling is an indispensable part of their inherent desire to explore the unknown and make memories they will never forget. And in preparation of doing so, many get themselves inspired by travel blogs. However, the booking of these travel recommendations can be complicated as one is likely to get relayed to a lot of different websites, none of which are interconnected.

After screening the internet for any existing solutions to this problem, we found that there were none – this came as a surprise to us and we took it upon ourselves to tackle this problem!

Goal

We at FarAway strongly believe that sharing one´s adventures while traveling can truly inspire other people to embark on similar trips, many of which they will probably never forget. Therefore, it is our set goal to integrate both the inspiration-giving blogs as well as the option to book the very same trip a blogger has written about on their blog, all-in-one App.

Methodology

To determine whether our Idea would elicit the same passion within our supposed target group as it did in us, we have conducted a variety of surveys and interviews. They have been very important in that they helped us to understand in which ways some of our expectations were met and how some differed from reality. While the surveys have been composed of a set of closed questions to derive quantitative insights out of the answers, the interviews have been rather open in that there was no stringent set of questions that had to be followed by and the answers could be as long as the participants wished.

Results

Interestingly, very big/established travel bloggers reported that they would prefer to retain their business model which is constituted of managing their own website and community. However, especially small to medium bloggers have been very excited about our idea. Two of the most salient reasons for their approval of our idea have been the lack of resources and time at their disposal to manage everything by themselves.

By offering a platform for bloggers to post, and travelers to retrieve bookable travel blogs, we will bridge the gap for both the bloggers, who will, no more, be dependent on maintaining their own website/platform, and travelers, who, for the first time ever, will be able to book a holistic trip they have read about, all-in-one App.
