EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Problem:

Bread is clearly among the most daily consumed groceries. However, in Austria almost 40 tons of fresh bread are thrown away daily. Furthermore, it was indicated that yearly 20.000 hectare grown cereals by Austrian farmers are wasted. This is the equal to the amount of CO2 emitted by 30.000 cars.

There are three main reasons why people throw away bread:

  • Bread has become moldy (caused by the oxygen in the air)

  • Bread has become stiffy

  • Bread does not taste the same any longer

Solution:

Unlimibread has decided to create a new way of storing bread. The BreadCube.
Unlike conventional storage options BreadCube helps bread maintain its original taste, prevents bread from becoming moldy at all and also ensures that bread stays all soft and crunchy- and this for very at least two weeks.

What is our USP?

The key feature of BreadCube is definitely to make bread significantly last longer (at least for two weeks) without losing its taste or becoming moldy.

How does BreadCube work?
  • First, the air inside the BreadCube is sucked out à vacuum is being created.

  • Second, CO2 is pumped into the box à a protective gaseous atmosphere is created and protects bread from mold, bacteria and other harmful substances.

  • This makes bread last for at least two weeks, ensuring the same quality as when the bread was bought.

Market:

We will sell B2C (in the beginning):

  • Households in general (families)

  • Eco-friendly people

  • Lead-Users

We will start selling our product in Austria. However, shortly after we will expand to whole Europe, having our focus on especially eco-friendly countries (e.g.: Germany, Norway,...).

Business model:

UnlimiBread will pursue a captive-pricing model. This means that the main product, BreadCube, will be sold at the lowest price possible. Profit will then be made by selling the CO2 cartridges at higher prices as well as by refilling those cartridges.

Team:

Our very interdisciplinary team is the most important resource. It consists of three members, from different fields (biotech, industrial engineering and entrepreneurship and innovation.
