The Stephan Koren Prize jury received many excellent applications again this year.

The Stephan Koren Prize jury received many excellent applications again this year. From this pool of submissions, the jury members, all of them full professors at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, selected seven outstanding dissertations to be awarded a Stephan Koren Prize.

WU Professor Anne d’Arcy, chair of the Membership Association of WU Full Professors, presented the award certificates to the winners listed below:

  • Verena Brandstetter: “Deep neural network methods for partial integro-differential equations with applications in finance, insurance and economics”

  • Anita Neumannova: “Digital resilience: micro-foundations, formulation, and implications”

  • Doris Schneeberger: “Nonhuman animals in organizations: contributing to the ‘animal turn’ in management and organization studies”

  • Nikolas Kuschnig: “Spillovers and other issues in environmental economics”

  • Dominik Schindl: “Die Vorfrage im Schiedsverfahren”


  • Erika Isabella Scuderi: “The taxation of outer space activities under domestic and international tax law: a principled and normative tax policy evaluation”

  • Martin Wiernsperger: “Essays on experimental research in management accounting

About the Stephan Koren Prize

The Stephan Koren Prize, presented by the Membership Association of WU Full Professors, has been awarded annually since 1996 to recognize outstanding doctoral dissertations completed at WU. This prestigious prize aims to turn the spotlight on talented up-and-coming researchers. It is awarded to doctoral students who have contributed to WU’s excellent reputation as a research university through their outstanding work.
