Generally speaking, you can take advantage of the accommodations and support services mentioned in the recommendation for all relevant exams after consulting with your lecturers/exam coordinators. Depending on the nature of your impairment, it may be that the measures are only recommended for written or oral exams.

It is important that you let us know well in advance about your wish to get accommodations or services:

• For exam weeks: Register via LPIS for the exam in question and write to us (beable@wu.ac.at) by the deadline you were informed of which exams you wish to take.

• For exams during courses: It is best to contact your lecturer at the beginning of the semester and inform him/her that you are a BeAble program participant and that you have a valid recommendation for different exam modalities.

You will receive an email either rom the BeAble team or your lecturer with the exact time and place your exam will take place.

That depends on which exam you are taking:

• For exam weeks: We will let you know in good time where your exam will take place.

• For exams during courses: Your lecturer will tell you where your exam will take place.

No, the support provided by the BeAble team is free of charge.

You will receive a recommendation from us, in which one or more measures for different exam modalities are recommended that are specifically tailored to you and your situation.

After consulting with your lecturer/exam coordinators, you can take advantage of the accommodations and support services outlined in the recommendation.

A study-relevant impairment is a (temporary) limitation, disability or illness that has a direct impact on your studies.

In the consultation, we want to comprehensively assess your situation and the challenges you are facing due to your impairment. We also want to clarify possible questions and offer further information about studying as a BeAble program participant.

This conversation and the joint assessment of your situation allows us to find the accommodations and services that best suit your needs for accessibility .

Since each student with an impairment faces different challenges and the situation is therefore different in each case, there is no fixed time frame to discuss all necessities.

By experience, an initial consultation last between 30 and 45 minutes.

We are happy to meet you in person. A consultation can, however, also take place via MS Teams.

The specialist/clinical psychological certificate should generally contain the following information:

• Confirmation that a study-relevant impairment exists,

• Recommendation of the accommodations and services to be provided, including the recommended extent,

• Expected duration of the study-relevant impairment.

Please note: The more detailed the specialist medical/clinical psychological evidence is, the better we can adapt the recommendation of the BeAble program to it.

Also note: The certificate should not include a diagnosis.

The specialist/clinical psychological certificate must be issued by either a specialist or a clinical psychologist.

Yes, you can generally use it as long as it meets the following requirements:

• generally not older than six months

• written in German or English

• basically contains the following contents:
  - Confirmation that a study-relevant impairment exists,
  - recommendation of the accommodations or services to be provided, including the recommended extent,
  - expected duration of the study-relevant impairment.

You can have your certificate translated into German or English, or you can have a new certificate issued in German or English.

As soon as we have conducted a consultation and received your medical/clinical psychological certificate, we start checking the documents and take care of issuing your recommendation. This will be sent to you by email after completion.

No, your participation in the BeAble program does not affect your grades and will not be noted on any documents.

No, your participation in the BeAble program is not recorded in any central location, nor is it automatically communicated to lecturers.

However, if you take an exam during exam week with the help of the BeAble team, the exam coordinators will be informed that you will take the exam with changed exam modalities.

They will only be informed which changed exam modalities apply to you, but of course the lecturers will not be informed about your type of impairment.

No, teachers do not receive any information about your impairment. The BeAble team treats your data with confidentiality.

If it seems absolutely necessary to inform lecturers about your impairment, we will only do so after consulting with you and with your explicit consent.

If you want to take an exam during exam week (e.g. Introduction to Business Administration) and use the recommended accommodations, register via LPIS within the registration period for the respective exam and send us an email (beable@wu.ac.at) within the period specified by us and communicated to you.

This registration allows you to take your exam under the supervision of a BeAble tutor with the recommended accommodations.

If you want to take an exam during a course, please contact your lecturer directly. He or she will then organize the exam for you. It is best if you inform the lecturer at the beginning of the semester that you are a BeAble program participant and submit your recommendation.

Your recommendation has a validity date so that we can regularly check whether the accommodations and services are still fitting for you.

If you still need the recommendation after the expiration date, we will be happy to extend it. In this case, please contact beable@wu.ac.at up to one month before expiration.
