End of registration period for WU bachelor’s programs

07/05/2019

On May 15, the online registration period ends for all of WU’s bachelor’s programs – Business and Economics (BBE), Business, Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo), and – for the first time – also Business Law (WiRe). Online registration is required for all prospective students who plan to start a bachelor’s program at WU in the 2019/20 winter semester or the 2020 summer semester. For BBE, it’s only possible to start the program in the winter semester. This also applies for students about to graduate from secondary school this year (online registration is possible without a secondary school leaving certificate) and people who still have to do their military or alternative civilian service. The admission procedure deadlines are identical for all three programs, but the entrance exam dates differ: The exams for the WiSo and BBE programs are scheduled for July 9, and the WiRe exam for July 10.

In the coming winter semester, 240 student places will be available in the English-taught Bachelor’s Program in Business and Economics, 2,730 places will be available in the Bachelor’s Program in Business, Economics and Social Sciences, and 870 places will be available in the Bachelor’s Program in Business Law. Prospective students have until May 15 to register online and pay the € 50 registration fee.

Next steps: OSA, entrance exams

On May 17, applicants will be notified of whether a specific selection procedure will be carried out for the program of their choice. If no selection procedure is necessary, applicants can be admitted directly without any further proceedings. If, as of May 15, the number of applications received for a program exceeds the number of available places, applicants will have to complete an online self-assessment (OSA) test by May 31 (and, in the case of BBE, submit proof of English skills and a letter of motivation). The OSA is intended to give prospective students a realistic impression of the contents of the curriculum, and it tests essential skills required for the chosen program (e.g. reading comprehension in German and English). After completing the OSA, applicants receive online feedback. The OSA is intended to help applicants make an informed decision when choosing their degree program. It is not graded and the results do not have any further bearing on the selection procedure. By June 18, applicants will be notified of whether an entrance exam will be held for the program of their choice. The exams for the WiSo and BBE programs are scheduled for July 9, and the WiRe exam for July 10. The exact times will be announced in advance. Information about the exam topics and materials is available on the individual program websites.
