Aleksandra Klein & Gerhard Speckbacher have published an article about "Does Using Accounting Data in Performance Evaluations Spoil Team Creativity? The Role of Leadership Behavior".

Does using accounting data in performance evaluations spoil team creativity and what is the role of leadership in this relationship? IfU faculty Aleksandra Klein and Gerhard Speckbacher investigate these questions in their new publication in The Accounting Review. Using a sample of 101 creative teams in advertising agencies, they find that, despite the commercial relevance, customer-related accounting data used in team performance evaluations for these teams may hinder their team creativity. However, Aleksandra Klein and Gerhard Speckbacher show that supportive and charismatic team leaders are key for resolving these tensions between the artistic merit and the commercial success of creative advertising ideas.
