Rainer Baier: Staff Mobility for Teaching at Tongji University in Shanghai, China

23/06/2025

As part of the Staff Mobility for Teaching program I was invited to teach at Tongji University for a week in June 2025.

I received a very warm welcome and professional support from the team at the International Cooperation & Accreditation Office. As part of the Shanghai Academic Lectures Series, I taught the topic “Data-Driven Decision-Making with Business Intelligence Tools”.

Again, I found the classes with the students very intensive and enriching, as the students had a high level of professional and social competence. I received very good support from Helena Chen und Eyi Jiang while preparing and teaching the course.

The commitment and friendliness of the colleagues and students made my stay in Shanghai a great experience. The campus tour was also very interesting for me because I learned, for example, that German professors played an important role in the founding of Tongji University. In addition, the city of Shanghai is of course particularly fascinating.

Thank you to the WU International Office team, especially Marlene Fleischanderl and Christine Dietrich. Once again, I felt very well supported in all steps of the process.
