03/04/2024

At this year’s Vis Moot Court, the WU Vienna team won a place among the eight best teams in the world.

Participating under the patronage of Professor Georg Kodek, the WU team delivered an impressive performance in the worldwide finals, where 373 universities from 80 countries competed against each other. The Vis Moot Court is the world’s biggest moot court for business law students, with over 2,500 participants. This year’s result is the best the WU Vienna teams have ever achieved.

WU has been sending teams to the Vis Moot Court since 2018. This year, WU students Fabijan Berket, Sidonie Ecker, Lara Matuschka, Kristof Pieper, Linda Teichtmeister, and Nikolaus Vetter took part in the competition. The team was supervised by Alina Holzer, Tim Kirchmayr, Florian Laher, Dominik Loidl, Jakob Popper, Daniel Peter Schmidt, and Caroline Strohmeier. Professor Bachner was on hand to advise the team on questions related to the UN sale of goods law.

In the run-up to the finals, the WU team participated in preparatory rounds held in London, Helsinki, Paris, Zurich, Vienna, Düsseldorf, Stockholm, and the Vis East Moot finals in Hong Kong.

The outstanding performance of the WU team has already attracted attention from the media, with a report in the Austrian daily “Die Presse” covering their great success.
