WU Rector appointed to EQUIS Committee

04/08/2021

Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger will be contributing her expertise to the advisory committee of the European Foundation for Management Development.

EQUIS (the EFMD Quality Improvement System) was established in 1998 by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). EFMD is an organization dedicated to strengthening university-level teaching and research in business and economics. Universities seeking accreditation by EQUIS have to undergo a comprehensive evaluation process.

The EQUIS Committee is made up of highly regarded experts who hold top-level management positions at universities and have profound experience in the field of management education. The EQUIS Committee supports and advises EFMD and the EQUIS Director on the further development and implementation of the accreditation system for business schools and carries out preliminary assessments to check if universities qualify as candidates for initial accreditation.

The EFMD Board has appointed WU Rector Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger to become a member of this high-profile panel. The term of office of EQUIS Committee members is three years, and this term can be extended once.

WU EQUIS-accredited since 2007

Following its initial EQUIS accreditation in 2007, WU was reaccredited for the maximum period of five years in 2013 and 2018. To meet the high EQUIS quality standards, WU is subject to extensive assessment procedures on a regular basis.
