The daily newspaper “Die Presse” will be presenting the Austria 25 awards again this year, honoring the Austrians of the Year in various categories. Two outstanding WU alumni are among the nominees.

WU alumna Rosa Bergmann is the founder of Vienna Hobby Lobby, a nonprofit working to promote equal opportunities by offering free leisure courses to children and teenagers. Through her social commitment, Rosa Bergman has created spaces for personal growth and development, regardless of family income. Her initiative has won several awards and attracted a great deal of attention in Austria and beyond.

Michael Beitl, WU alumnus and co-founder of Kern Tec, a start-up seeking to revolutionize the use of fruit pits. Embracing sustainability and innovation, Michael Beitl’s company uses fruit pits that would otherwise be wasted to produce high-quality ingredients for foods and cosmetics. In this way, Michael Beitl is making important contributions to the circular economy and resource conservation.
