Gerlinde Mautner Named Vice President of the Austrian Science Fund

WU Professor Gerlinde Mautner, head of the Institute for English Business Communication, has been elected vice president of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) for a term of four years.

Linguist Gerlinde Mautner was appointed full professor at WU’s Institute for English Business Communication in 2000. In 2005, she was appointed head of this institute. Gerlinde Mautner was named Honorary Visiting Professor by the Cass Business School, City University London, in 2014. In 1993, Gerlinde Mautner received her doctoral degree from the University of Vienna with special honors and under the auspices of the president of Austria. In 1997, she obtained her venia docendi habilitation degree in English linguistics at WU. She completed extended international research stays at the universities of Birmingham, Lancaster, Cardiff, and Sussex, King’s College London, and Queen Mary University of London. From 1998 to 2002, Gerlinde Mautner served as WU Vice-Rector for International Affairs. She has been FWF Board Reporter for Literature and Language Studies since 2008.
